Couldn't help myself!

Well, I just had to do this post, and post it.  Queen Mary of Denmark and Ariarne Titmus the swimmer.  The women are from Tasmania.  Queen Mary of Denmark was born in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia, went to school there and so on, later meeting Prince Federick of Denmark in Sydney when at the 2000 Olympic Games.  They met in a place called the Slip Inn, the rest is history.
As we might recall Ariarne (born here in Launceston, Tasmania, Australlia) has done well in the Paris Olympics, and it was there that the two hugged after Ariarne and her teammates had won their gold medal in the 4 x 200 metre free style.  It was Ariane's 4th Gold Medal at that time.

The above photo was taken well after the last Olympics.  One of the pools named after Ariarne Titmus here in Launceston.

  1. Margaret, Queen Mary and Frederick seem a very beautiful and perfect couple, but there is a rumor that the prince is "very hummingbird".

    1. Yes, I'm sure they will always remember. I believe that the arrangements regarding Queen Mary's security on that day was planned sometime in advance because she wanted to say 'hello' to her fellow Tasmanian at some point in the Games.

It's great that a swimming pool has been named after Ariarne Titmus in her home. She did a great job in Paris at the Olympics.
It was a celebration to watch the many sports.
Congratulations to all the athletes who took part... and of course to Ariarne Titmus for winning the medals.
    Kind regards to you.

    1. That is pleasing that your King and Queen were there to cheer on your athletes. I didn't know that as the TV commentary never said.

  13. Mary is an amazing person. Seems that she leant to speak perfect Danish in about 3 months and it is the hardest language of all is learn.
As for the RUBBISH of Fred and that woman ! Utter bullshit - she was a kindergarten mate of Fred and Mary was furious how it was reported - not the BULLSHIT about a "roving" eye husband - anyhow the lady in question is suing the damn press for their implications etc. and I bet she wins. One wonders
if is was the Murdoch thrash?????
The Danes are the most pleasant and friendliest on planet earth.
Plus it is an amazing country - I loved my two visits to Copenhagen and other
places - ie: Frederikshavn in the north.
Not sure if the young Yank boy in the top photos had a clue of who was who???
    Cheers
    Colin
PS: Still raining here - I wish someone could get plumbers to turn the waterworks off!!!

Lovely day here, no rain here but have had a shower or two I believe in the night.
