Ben Lomond, Tasmania

This is the view from the dining room and family room windows.  It snowed on Ben Lomond but most of it was gone the next day.  It takes about 56 minutes to get there from home here.  The mountain is 1572 meters above sea level, southern end.

Snow doesn't fall there every year but of course most years, there is a snow making machine up there as well and a little village.

The above photo is of Jacobs Ladder on the way down Ben Lomond taken several years back on a warm summer's day.

We used to take Sasha with us in the caravan in Tasmania.  This is him in his basket at home here, then in the caravan with his full coat of long hair which I used to brush everyday if not more.

Sasha the Shih-Tzu.  Long gone but wonderful memories.  He had been outside so hence he is a little wet. It had been raining, I guess.

    1. Thanks Catarina. That road is a bit scary when it's wet and has ice but we get up there as it isn't too far.

    1. We are lucky to be able to see that view through the window, the people next door haven't put trees or plants there that would block our view. We also see into their backyard but of course we don't look very often at all.

  6. OMG those mountain pictures are breathtaking and scary! The road made me dizzy just looking at it. We've done a fair number of back country mountain roads with switchbacks where I was glad to get out of the car at the end of the day. Your pictures made me remember those chilling rides.

    1. Many people won't drive up that windy road at all Sandy. Forever turning the wheel of the vehicle as you would know having been on roads similar.

    1. Thanks. We are lucky, each morning I look out the windows to see how the mountain looks or to see if I can see it, there may be clouds handing over it.

  8. What a stunning view from your windows.
The Ben Lomond road reminds me of the street in San Francisco. Ahh, yes, Lombard Street.
Don't we love and miss our pets so much. They aren't with us too long but what a mark they make.

Yes, it's a really good view out the windows, so lucky to have it.
Our pets, oh yes, we miss Sasha and the same year he went our labrador went, then mum went! All in the same year, was a sad one.

    1. Oh yes, we don't always have to travel far to get to some lovely places down here Hels, and because we are on the 'right' side of the city we are closer to so many things.

  10. The Tassie Ben Lomand -there is a Ben Lomand between Guyra and Glenn Innis
in NSW - a bitterly cold place in Winter - snow! But not the skiing variety.
My uncontrollable first horse - a mare was purchased by my father for me
as a 7 year old kid. The mare was impossible but produced good foals which
we sold - unbroken. I offended wondered how many bones of would-be riders
    they broke!!!
The washing of that dog and grooming / drying would be a bloody
    full time job!
    Cheers
    Colin
PS: At least here in Terrigal - it is NOT raining but only a few board riders
    in the surf. Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    1. Cold at Glen Innis as it's high up so therefore that Ben Lomand would be too, even colder.
Ok about the horses, I used to ride everyday when we lived on the farm when first married.
Oh to brush Sasha each day, wash his face, do his hair on the top took be a long time but I loved doing it. I would wash him each week and do his toe nails, cut between the pads on his feet, and pluck the long hairs out of his ears - don't think I missed anything..lol Loved every minute of it, when he got older I decided to cut his hair shorter so he wouldn't be a crabby old boy🤣

    1. Oh yes River, couldn't go fast at all, slow it is and if you meet a car coming the other way it's often stop to the side and let them go through or they do that for us.
      Thanks re Sasha.

  13. Beautiful view of the mountains from your dining room window, I think the mountains are beautiful, we in the Netherlands live below sea level, there are no mountains here.

    1. Sasha did love the caravan trips/days/holidays, he was quiet which was good and it did me good to take him for a walk several times a day.
It's a nice mountain, though not really high compared to some mountains.
It's not as scary going up or down Jacobs ladder on a nice day Vernoica, not so good in the wet/ice and snow.
