Black and White

Black and white photos done in a HDR software program of which I've forgotten the name of, don't have it on my laptop must find it.  So these photos were done a little while back.
The photos were taken in various places within Australia.

Accommodation, The Fox Hunters Return Hotel Campbell Town, Tasmania.

Australian War Memorial in Canberra, ACT.  Australia. It's ANZAC Day here on April 25, 2024.

St. John Anglican Church, Launceston, Tasmania.

The Hobart Town Hall and a Street in Hobart, Tasmania.

Bischoff Hotel at Waratah, North Western Tasmania.
It often snows here in winter.

    1. That's true, once we didn't have a choice, it was black and white or nothing.

  3. I find black and white photos very evocative. Our War Memorial is undergoing humungous restorations. It will look very different this year.

  6. Black and white photos can be so nice to view. Colour is real life but black and white photos are art. Waratah was where my paternal grandmother was born and I've never been there.

    1. That's true what you say Andrew.
Well fancy that - Waratah, not a lot there but a waterfall in the middle of the town which is unusual.

  7. Anzac Day for me and I hope all Aussies is a very moving day.
I stay home - no more pubs to watch "TWO-UP" brawls anymore.
Thank God in our hotels we had none - banned for ever to enter
    if they occurred!
I watch in sequence the following.
The Dawn Service in Canberra, then marches in various cities,
followed by the moving Dawn Service at Gallipoli, and then the
service at Villers Bretonneux in France. They are all so symbolic of
    the spirit.
The black and white photos are excellent - well done Margaret.
    Cheers
    Colin
PS: It has actually stopped raining here - a miracle!!!!

  10. I really think B&W is better for showing textures and shapes. But both color and B&W can be works of art, even from the same shot. They simply tell different stories.

    1. They certainly can look better but it does depend on the subject. Once we didn't have a choise, now we do which is good.

  24. Coloured photos may be best for humans, animals and gardens etc, but architecture can be more striking in black and white.
