The Tyre

We were not far from Huonville when somethings seemed wrong with the caravan, a flat tire on the caravan!  Yes!  It certainly made a noise a man stopped in front of us to make sure we knew then he continued on.

I phoned RACT = Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania of which I'm a member, a man came and changed the tyre as we were near a very busy highway, the side of the road was gravel, my husband isn't able to bend down on the ground to change the tyre and if you pay for this service, use it when necessary.
We only had to wait a short time as in less than one hour and we were on our way to the tyre shop in Huonville and bought 4 new tyres and book in to have them all changed on the caravan the next day even though the tyres were all ok but showing sign of 'sun age' it was best said the tyre people, the tyres had been on the caravan for awhile.  We were happy with that even though the tyre people would be thinking of money.

The offending tyre, I managed to take photo between the cars flying down the highway.

    1. Thank you Donna. It was fortunate we were in an area that phone reception, so many places in Tasmania that do not, though things are improving.

  2. Everything ended well luckily. Riding the road with a flat tire is a risk.

  3. Hubo suerte y no llevó mucho tiempo reparar el neumático. Has hecho bien, al llegar al destino cambiar todos los demás, pude que tuvieras algún problema al regreso.

  4. Some months ago we called the NRMA in similar circumstances. And were very, very grateful to see them arrive.

  7. Glad that you had someone come and change your tyre. That is a great service to have. I never heard of sun age but that was a smart move to replace them all.

    1. We were grateful to have someone come. Well here in Tasmania, Australia the sun is so strong it will burn your skin within 10 minutes so it's understandable what it will do to tyres.

  8. What a bummer. Lucky you got out of the scenario safely. I bombed my car in Lake Tyrrell many times. Stuck in mud trapped in areas with no mobile phone reception. This was why I stopped heading there.

    1. Can understand not going there anymore with no mobile reception - we have been caught twice with no reception, one in WA up the top and near Mundubbera in Queensland but we got by.

    1. Yes, thank goodness. It's a wise decision to have it, in my younger days I used to change tyres on my MGB on my way to work with my white uniform on..lol

  12. It's a very unpleasant situation. At the end of last year, our car's tire was also damaged and we had to call assistance.

    1. It sure does pay to belong, it's not a large sum to be a member cost heaps more if we were not one.

  15. Nunca nos ha pasado algo así, cuando teníamos la caravana. Lo mejor cambiar toddos por precaución.
    Un abrazo.
