A sunset in Huonville, Tasmania

Several nights there was a decent sunset one could view, this is one that I just happened to view, so hence the photo.

In the caravan 'Poppy' always has a few lollies hidden away in a drawer, the grandchildren know this :) so one morning Miss E came for a visit and Poppy gave her a few, so she put them in their colours and then in a packet - yes, she had clean hands, a must :)

Cherries were $7.00 a kilo which is very cheap and they were beautiful. We bought these on our way back from Geeveston which is a town south of Huonville.

Down the road upon entry to the town of Geeveston is this log...just click on the image and the text can be read easier.

  1. Hello Margaret,

What an amazing sunset you have captured. Sometimes one is just in the right place at exactly the right moment. Clearly, this was one of them.

  2. I love cherries and have plenty in the freezer currently, but nothing beats a fresh one. I am guessing that your little granddaughter loved jelly babies!

  4. The black cherries in your post remind me that fruit are expensive in our parts, except bananas which are in season now.
The sunst, your grandi Poppy, and the cherries look gorgeous!

    1. Sometimes fruit is a bit expensive here too. Our Island is also known as 'The Apple Isle' but for us the apples are not cheap.
Many cherries have been eaten by us this year and there are some still for sale at the supermarket, with so many verities these days they come late in the season.

  7. Love the sunset - and the urge for order your beautiful granddaughter shows. $7 a kilo? That is very cheap. I would have bought up big.
That is one humungous log. I wonder what the area looked like when it (and others) were still standing.

    1. Don't think Miss E is as good with her order in her bedroom according to her mother :)
Extremely cheap and delicious at the same time - we bought 2 kilos, cherries everywhere down that way all different prices up to $20.00 a kilo, but mind you there was no difference in the quality so it does make you wonder sometimes.
Down there near Geeveston there are still very large trees and there is a treetop walk which has been doing for some years, a few years ago there were fires in the area which did great damage but the treetop walk is back in action again now.

    1. Massive log as you say. We have been to the Styx National Reserve some years ago and saw this massive tree as in width and height, it was the tallest tree in the southern hemisphere at that time.
