The Huonville River is 174km long. Looking on the map of Tasmania the river doesn't look long at all.
The mouth of the river is the Tasman Sea and I traced the Huon River to Lake Pedder in the South Western area of Tasmania.
A post last March with photos of Lake Pedder is [here]
So the day after we arrived in Huonville we headed off following a road we had never been on along the Huon River. We didn't finished the drive because it was too late in the afternoon - a map below shows the 'teadrop' road we didn't finish.
The photos were taken not far from the town of Huonville.
What A Gorgeous Harbor There - A Water Coloring Artist Dream - May Ever Day Be As Peaceful
ReplyDeleteCheers
It is a lovely harbour and there are a few down that way.
DeleteA nice place to visit.
ReplyDelete: )
Agree :)
DeleteSería un placer poder estar ahí ahora Margaret.
ReplyDeleteBuen jueves. Cuídate.
Un abrazo.
I'm sure it would be lovely if you could be there - or somewhere like that :)
DeleteGreat pictures! Especially the first one, which is like a painting.
ReplyDeleteIt does seem like a painting, just a ripple of the water.
DeleteThank you. I am sure that the bridge IS slippery when wet or icy, but it looks like a wonderful place to walk just the same.
ReplyDeleteWonder if it gets used during the winter, guess it would as there are people that live in that area and would have dogs to walk.
DeleteBeautiful photos espcially the first one of the harbour.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill, it was lovely just standing there and watching the river/sea/
DeleteTambién me gusta explorar caminos nuevos. Ahora en estas fotos tiene un nueva visión del río.
ReplyDeleteBesos
Indeed I do and it's a lovely region too.
DeleteSuch lovely photos
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne.
DeleteIt looks a very serene and peaceful location.
ReplyDeleteIt was Rosemary, ever so peaceful and nothing to hear but the silence of the river/sea.
DeleteYou didn't finish travelling the road and so you have left something for next time.
ReplyDeleteYes next time Andrew and hopefully it will be a pretty drive. There are many roads to travel down there and a lot of farmland as well.
DeleteI love the look of the sky in your first photograph :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
It's different but then the sky always is.
Deletebeautiful photos of a beautiful location :)
ReplyDeleteHello F. Hope you are well.
DeleteAlways nice down there with the river/sea, hills and greenery.
Se ve muy lindo. Muchos besos.
ReplyDeleteYes it is nice Teresa.
DeleteLovely view of the river. A great place to visit and I would like to take a walk on the wooden walkway when it is dry and not slippery.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good walkway and at least the sign is there telling it can be slippery...
DeleteIt really does seem like a wonderful place to walk-- to breathe the air, to hear the water.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Bill. Was very peaceful and relaxing standing there with a gentle breeze and to look at the views.
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place. Great to see the small boats.
A nice place to relax.
Greetings, Marco
A lot of the boats people would fish from them or just go for a sail.
DeleteNice photos, that walkway invites you to walk it, the stillness of the waters, the boats, the surroundings, provide an idyllic landscape.
ReplyDeleteBest regards.
Thanks. There is a house or two opposite that river, nice view for them.
DeleteIt must be great fun to take a walk there. I would like to feel the breeze.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you.
Was magic standing there and the first time we had visited the sea since March last year - yes, I know many people who love the sea haven't visited for well over a year, hopefully they will get there this year.
DeleteThanks for keeping my memories of Tasmania alive!
ReplyDeleteHopefully I can David - unless I wander off the track to some other part of Australia later.
DeleteGlad you were not there in the winter when the walkway would be icy according to the warning. You did get some very nice water views, margaret.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine slipping on that walkway, at least the sign is there to tell us.
DeleteBeaut views Beatrice for anyone to see.
Oh, so the Huon River is the route you take before going to Lake Pedder ... it's a very interesting sight to find there, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteNo it's not the way from Huonville to Lake Pedder. The Huon River goes to Lake Pedder but no road that way. To get to Lake Pedder one has to go in a different direction :)
DeleteIt's pretty along the Huon River.
It's a lovely area down there. That drive would have been beautiful. Nice photos
ReplyDeleteThanks Diane, it is lovely.
Deletebeautiful views dear Margaret
