Tulip Time

Haven't travelled anywhere since the beginning of April, just a day trip here and there.
I still have photos from other trips in Tasmania that I will show you.

It's Tulip time in Tasmania.
The photos were taken a few years back at a Tulip Farm on Table Cape on the North West Coast.  Could go again this year but be nothing new to see, just more tulips and probably a few new varieties in a different paddock.
The tulips are grown and exported to the Netherlands - yes, that's true!
Will do a few post on the tulips.
Some of you might recall the place called Wynyard and the photos from that post you can see Table Cape from the beach in the distance.

    1. They are a beautiful bulb and flowers and I've heard of the festival over your way/Canada. We have a festival here too which should be on at the moment but it's not due to the virus :)

  13. Of course, I knew about tulip fields in the Netherlands and have even seen William Kendalls' posts about the annual festival in May but never knew they grew in Tasmania as well. Such stunningly beautiful colors and I was wondering if many remain in the country for sale vs. being exported.

    1. They certainly do remain here for sale - and they are bloody expensive.
They are not too cheap in Holland either, if my memory serves me right!

    2. The flowers are sold here, well some of them. Bulbs you also can purchase but as Colin stated, they are expensive due to most of them being different.

  14. Magnificent - have seen the annual display in Canberra. Forget what it is called.
Looks like a case of "eat your hearts out Holland".

Love the new name for some Tassie sporting team - "Jumping Jacks".
Should scare the living daylights out of the opposition. I wouldn't want a heap of those damn insects on my torso!

Floriade it's called in Canberra where they have many kinds of flowers displayed in patterns I believe but not this year.

  15. There are so many and so beautiful. I would love to see that, maybe one day. Exporting to Holland, that's like we export camels to Saudi Arabia.
