The Amenities

Dreadful thing to happen, fire.
On August 17, 2019 a fire engulfed the amenities building at the Huonville Caravan Park and it was burnt to the ground.
Cause was a dryer, the filter in one of them had not been cleaned out so hence great damage was done.
By the time we arrived there in December 2019 for Christmas the amenities were rebuilt, so photos of the fire remains in the first photo then of the new amenities.
There are many toilets and showers as it's a rather large park.  Every shower has different tiles and shower head, there is certainly one suitable for everyone.

  2. Glad that everything was rebuilt. I suppose that banks of fryers like this are always a bit of a hazard, when different people are using them each day.

    1. It is a hazard when so many people use the dryers, but, the people that 'run' or are in 'charge' of the caravan park should also each day in my opinion clean the filters! They are caretakers or owners, plus I suppose their staff who do the cleaning should check the filters.

    1. Lovely clean place and was clean before the fire, most places are like that, only an odd one not so clean.

  4. Fire is a dreadful thing. The rebuilt amenities look great. I clean our dryer's filter each time I use it, and it is good to see a reminder about why it is such a good thing to do.

    1. Reminded me to clean my filter out in the dryer more often, not that I used a dryer that much even in winter.

  5. Sad to hear it burnt down. At least no one was injured and now there is a beautiful new building to replace it.

  6. You must have noticed how much facilities in caravan parks have improved over the years. When I was quite young, they were so basic.

    1. We have been travelling then home for summer since 2000 and things sure have changed in that time. Now people demand more - camping is not like it used to be, well for a few maybe.

  7. While it was sad to see the photos of the fire remains, the new facilities certainly looked nice and hopefully will continue to be enjoyed safely for years to come. We have stayed in many hotels with washer/dryer facilities and always check the filters first, just like at home.

    1. Yes, it's great that the caravan park is still functioning after the fire there. Only a few people were permitted into the park whilst they were rebuilding the amenities as there are private showers and toilets at extra cost.

  9. Wow-- those dryers are hard to reach if a load of wet stuff! What a great park, though, to have such nice amenities.

    1. I can reach the dryer easily, and if you can't there is usually someone around who can and will, so that is good.
Always welcome to have clean new amenities and most are very clean in our travels. We have our own shower in the caravan and washing machine.
