Richmond, Tasmania

These photos were taken at Easter time when we travelled with our eldest son, his wife and their two little ones to Richmond.
We stayed for 4 nights and yes I cooked a baked dinner in our caravan for all of us on Easter Sunday.

The below photos were taken at the Richmond Caravan Park where we were the only two families in this particular area of the park..

Eldest son has a different caravan to us therefore no shower or loo.   Instead of taking themselves off to the showers and loos provided in the park he decided to bring his own.  They also have a small tent that house the both, handy when you have little ones.

In the photo my husband, eldest son and wife are trying to work out the gas hot water - they did so, all was good with his family having lovely hot showers.
This son is a qualified Horticulturist/Landscaper and has his own business using his own name for several years now.

Their little dog, a Poochon named Summer.  Summer came from Melbourne last year as a puppy.  So she flew into Tasmania :) and belongs to the little ones.
Summer has a delightful temperament and never barks.

  1. Summer is a delightful little dog and suspect much loved by the family. It is lovely that you all spent Easter together at the Richmond Caravan Park.

    1. Definitely loved by all of us Rosemary.
Usually we stay home for Easter but is was wonderful to have it away from home for a change. Youngest son stayed home here and had his 3 little ones for half of Easter Sunday. Good to spend time with them on his own.

  3. It looks like a delightful area and a great place to gather.
Cooking a full roast in a caravan? Not any of those I knew in my younger years. Colour me impressed.

    1. Oh yes, managed rather well cooking the roast. Microwaved the potatoes first then placed them around the Turkey in oven to continue cooking and brown. Beautiful. Vegetables cooked on top gas as is the oven, sweets in the oven, chocolates pudding with ice cream:) just the same as home. We are outside under the awning at the table and sat on our chairs, had wine for those that likes it, water for the little ones.

    1. The caravan park was rather full. A long the fence up further then past the indoor swimming pool and playroom was rather full with caravans because of Easter holiday.

  5. Fun to see your family! Those shower/toilet tents are becoming popular for camping here, too. I had never seen one before this year.

    1. Haven't got a photo of the tent, will get one at Christmas time. Handy when they haven't got a shower etc. In their van.

  6. That looks like a complicated shower set up. Summer looks very sweet. Easter here and nearly everywhere will be booked out in advance.

    1. We booked well in advance for Easter at Richmond.
You leave the gas thing outside and gas bottle, take the shower head and length into the shower tent then someone outside turns the dial on the gas water heater and off you go, instant hot water with all having a shower one after the other. This was the first time so hence testing it out in the open..

  8. I'm shivering at the thought of an outdoor shower, no matter how hot the water. Summer looks like a sweetie.

  9. Looks like you had a great time with the family at Easter. We were away with ours at the beach. I think I would prefer the indoor shower to the outdoor one, but at least they had hot water! I think I am more of a glamper!! Looks like a lovely spot.

Me too with indoor shower, used to it now - if younger, much younger outdoor shower in tent would be ok.

You are correct about food - no one cooks certain food like their mum does or did.
