Stanley Beaches

Grodfreys Beach in Stanley curves for about 1.1 kms, is sheltered from the westerly winds as the beach faces east.  This is the beach that can be seen from the top of The Nut and also on top of the hill in The Nut post 2nd photo.

The last 3 photos were taken from the Caravan Park looking across Tatlows Beach and a lobster on top of the fish and chip shop.

  1. Oh how I would love to poke around in those tide pools.

    1. It is possible that you may get a few nasty surprises in those tide pools.

    2. Lovely to do so, have to watch for blue ringed octopuses, crabs and other things in those little pools other than that all would be fine. One doesn't always find such things. Just have to be on the lookout.

Not a single soul... Was it cold that day?

    1. No wasn't cold, but that's Tasmanian beaches never many people on them, the sun burns too much. People from the North of Australia come down to Tasmania, they burn very quickly within a half hour most of them are red as can be, even though they come from the tropics. Our air is clean, the sun hot.

    2. I'll have to remember that and bring plenty of sunscreen if I ever make it down there.

    1. Water not deep at Tatlows Beach when tide is out.
The buildings of Stanley are rather sweet Andrew.

  4. Is that a maintenance ramp area for the fishing trawlers which are high and dry?
Hopefully the idiot brigade might read the signs, but I have my doubts.
So pleased your Florida follower likes your sea views!!!!!

    1. Believe it is a dry dock/maintenance area.
I'm sure Stanley people are well aware of their waters and beaches..I noticed horses galloping along one of those whist we were there.

  6. A sheltered beach sounds nice, no wind to freeze you when you first come out of the water.

  10. Lovely beach. With the lack of people I am guessing this is not tourist season.

    1. Just the end of tourist season, and there still wouldn't be heaps of people on the beach. Tasmania is like that, heaps of beaches and never a lot of people on them in the peak season.
