Black Beach, Mackay Queensland.

Have been to Mackay many times when travelling and we could see this large expanse of beach but never knew which road to take - finally we did and was rather disappointed.  The beach is far below the road, the parking area spaces is small, but then again I expect people don't often swim in the sea here due to the creatures that will mostly likely sting us.

Building some steps down to the beach.

    1. I'm sure they are Jo-Anne, never been in the sea where they are, only paddled at the edge but I expect that's not a good idea either.

  4. Stay away from those jellyfish, the sign is helpful. Do people take vinegar with them to the beach?

    1. Many people do, at some beaches vinegar is provided in a box on a pole which is a good idea.

No sympathy from me to those who get stung.

    1. Totally agree Colin, always signs at beaches if swimming is not safe, some people think they know better unfortunately.

  6. It looks like a lovely expanse of sand and water, but the box jellyfish would have me nowhere near the waves. it would be one beach I would never visit because I love to paddle.

Here we can swim only occasionally and can come across a blue octopus on a rare occasion which are not nice either.

  9. Even the non lethal stings of jellyfish can be extremely painful and the effect long lasting.

  10. The beach is so beautiful, but I think I would also be afraid to swim for fear of finding some Jelly fish.
    Have a nice weekend

  13. I stepped out of my boat at the boat ramp at Victor Creek...just north of Seaforth...one morning...when I was running Newry Island...and there in the water was a massive box jellyfish....I steered well clear of it!!
