Wellington, NSW, around town.

A few photos in Wellington, NSW.  Some businesses are closed as in gone by the wayside, others are doing alright.  Coles is the local Supermarket.
The Pub on the corner and the Railway Station is the long building.
The last 3 photos - the Catholic School and Church.

  3. The pub is often the last business to close....
I am always sad to see a dying town though.

    1. I'm sure the town will always be there for one reason or another. The Correctional Centre helps with the people that work there obviously live in Wellington..

  4. IT reminds me of so many small towns across the USA that seem to have no reason to exist anymore. The little town we live near was at it's peak 70 years ago when farming and the lumber trade were at their heights.

    1. Things change as time goes on, some small towns fall by the wayside and other flourish, some stay the same.

  7. I like small country towns but they are hard to live in when young not much happens but as a old lady they would suit me fine.

    1. Definitely hard for the young ones these days, they can make their own clean fun of course if permitted to do so.

  8. That's a curious van, with two doors almost side by side. Was there a fountain opposite the Fountain View Cafe?

    1. If the Fountain Cafe could have been opposite the fountain near enough from memory.
I believe that 'van' is a horsebox!

  9. I'd think that the cafe will never re-open. Looks a very run down building.
Quite an impressive Catholic Church. Quite a few boys went to my Sydney boarding college ( Joey's) from the Wellington district. Most were very good at all sports.
They were all members of the Wellington Pony Club, some I often suspected thought they were the last of members of the Banjo's Snowy Mountain riders!!!

    1. All Catholic Churches are impressive, never seen one yet in Australia that isn't!
Many businesses will never open in Wellington again in the same building then - maybe someone might do those building up and make them look nice. Time will tell on that.

    2. The "cafe" could be re-opened as a youth hostel or a place for the thousands of young back-packers who roam all around Australia.

A surfing beach at Wellington, in mid-central NSW........now that would be a "World Wonder". Would sure put Wellington on the World map - ha ha!
