Cameron Park, Wellington NSW

Cameron Park in the centre of Wellington for us was a great place to have a picnic which we did.
There were plenty of locals there around lunch time but were gone when I took these photos.

The War Memorial with all the names of the people in the district that were killed during the Wars.

    1. Certainly was a nicer lunch eaten in a different place as it was a rather pleasant park.

  3. It looks lovely.
So many country towns have those memorials. And a quick scan of the names shows how hard some families were hit.

    1. You are correct about many towns having their loved ones lost in the wars in the same family..

  7. Love seeing and reading the names on the War Memorials in the country towns of Australia. There certainly is a great pride taken in them by the locals. Some whom have lived there for generations, especially the people with farming interests.
It never fails to amaze me that with the war memorial parks of country towns that they mostly have a gun carriage gun. Must have been a surplus left over from WWs 1 and 2.

Certainly a lot of rules re: the park, but I have generally noted that country people observe them rigidly.
I reckon the good burgers of Wellington would be delighted with your report and photos of their town.
    Cheers

    1. Oh my finger :) I will be careful.
Many of the war memorials have flowers around then at some stage - people are good like that.

    1. If you see a nice clean tidy park you are more likely to stop and buy somethings from a shop nearby and eat it at tables in that park.

  10. Yes--- a great park. A memorable monument. And a sign that could simply say, "DON'T".

  11. So many do's and dont's on that sign. They are certainly making sure that you are aware of everything.

  12. If that sign wasn't there, just how much rubbish and vandalism would possibly happen. Some people DO READ SIGNS. I do.
I doubt if any locals would valise the park, the once in a life-time travellers through the town would be the culprits.

I think the Wellington Council was well within its rights and obligations to have such a sign up in a park with a war memorial park.

    1. It's a longish park with a creek at the back of it - can understand the sign but but it is rather a lengthy one and the only one within that park that I know of. The sign is near the memorial, so respect.

    Lovely photos of beautiful place.
Often, people don't be anywhere when you are taking a photo, and sometimes they are too much ..
