Turners Beach, Tasmania, Australia.

Last week we went to the beach for 4 days with the new caravan.
The weather wasn't the best as it rained a few of those days but I managed to get a photo towards sunset of the beach behind the caravan.
When the tide is out you can often see the horses and their riders galloping along the beach, not that they do it often.

I cooked Turkey in the Gas oven, and had baked potatoes plus veggies cooked on the gas cooktop.
We used the shower and tried out most things in the van to see all worked, soon we will do it all again.Talking about gas oven, the potatoes took 3 hours to bake, next time I will pre-cook them as they were rather dense and are known to take a little longer than other varieties.

We came home on Mother's Day in the morning in time for eldest son his wife and little ones to take me out to lunch.

Monday I had to be present in the Supreme Court to see if I was to be chosen as a Juror.  Oh, yes, I was, so this past week I was on a case which is now finished.
I couldn't win a raffle, but I was the 8th person chosen and I thoroughly enjoyed.

Walking along the caravan park and came across the steps to the beach, it was a rough day at Turners Beach.

View to the East.

4th and 5th Grandchild....a bit blurred and taken with my phone.  I asked her to smile and she normally won't but this time she did.... Miss E just had her 3rd birthday, and the baby boy is 6 months old.

  1. What lovely grand children! We always microwave our baked potatoes first after pricking them with a fork (about 5 minutes and then turn for 5 minutes depending upon the size of the potato). Then you just have to finish them off on the BBQ for the lovely brown finish and taste. Lovely beach location - what a treat!

Thanks for the tip. Never pre-cooked baked potatoes before but it's coming up that I will.

  2. I used to be a magistrate - life inside the courtroom is very interesting and I am pleased that you enjoyed the experience.
Sweet little grandchildren - she is a good little mother to her baby brother.

  5. The waves are beautiful but looks like not much beach that day. So glad everything works in your Caravan. I've never had a potato take three hours to bake. Do you stab at them first with a knife, so the heat can penetrate more easily? Your grandchildren are beautiful!

Yes, I do stab them, the potatoes....

  8. Miss E has lovely hair, but when she gets older I guess she won't like it, as kids do. The danger of pre dinner drinks and a delayed dinner. I must find out if our potatoes are pre cooked. I think they are as it seems late when the phrase 'better put the vegetables on' is uttered. I am sure my mother used to put the vegetables in the roasting pan when she put the meat on. So it seems everything functioned ok in the van? The waves rolling in made for a good photo.

    1. If Miss E is anything like me she will not like her curly hair....I used to iron my long hair when first married..oh did your mum put on at same time as meat, well I suppose how long the meat would take..

  10. Very sensible to have trial runs in inclement weather conditions before
setting off on your mainland adventures. Now you need an instant heatwave
    to test those conditions!!!
Well I guess that will have to wait - Tasmania has not been known for
    heatwaves in May!! ha ha.
Turners Beach does look the greatest of beaches at present - thank God unlike
most populated areas of the World we are blessed with magnificent
    beaches.
    Cheers
    Colin

    2. Defenitly no heat wave in May here...always important to have a few trial goes before heading off over the water...

  14. Miss E is a cutie and hoe adorable feeding the baby. It must be fun learning your way around the new van. Boil the spuds first. Not that I'm a cook.
