Very small problem!

I don't mind having a lolly once in awhile so I bought a packed of Butter Scotch Drops at the supermarket the other day.  When it came time that I fancied one I was sitting on the lounge with my laptop on my knee reading your blogs which I do enjoy doing.  Whilst reading I grabbed a Butter Scotch Drops from the packet, couldn't get the packet open, so placed the laptop on a small table went and got the scissors to cut the top of the packet, hurray I got a Drop out but goodness me, I tried to undo the Drop as they are all in separate little packets sealed too.  So, everytime I want one I have to have the scissors to cut it out!  Just a small inconvenience.  Then I thought if I was somewhere else and had to have a lolly for medical reason what would I do to get the damn thing open!  I can't do it with my teeth, that didn't work.  A question is in order for anyone who has an answer/suggestion, how to open in such a situation, or any if no scissors.  If I'd known they were individually wrapped I wouldn't have bought them - but they are tasty :)

To make matters worse the blessed paper after cut sometimes sticks to your fingers and won't leave them.

  1. I thought those packaging should be really easy to tear it off..

  2. I have the same problem here with items that are individually wrapped. You are supposed to flip the seem up and from the top tear it. OK, that doesn't always work either. I do the scissors method too.

    1. I tried that but can't move the seal. Frustrating, isn't it!

  3. Isn't all that plastic packaging the biggest problem?

    1. It doesn't necessarily feel plastic more like some type of paper but would probably have some type of plastic stuff in it. They are made in Australia from 99% of their ingredients. Plastic is a problem; Australia is doing it's best on that and improving all the time.
We don't have plastic bags for the supermarket down here.

  4. I understand your problem. Those Butter Scotch drops are really good, but it's so stupid that they're wrapped individually. Scissors are a good thing to have in your bag.

    1. They are indeed good to suck on, Marit. A small pair of scissors in the handbag is a good idea as long as they are not pointy..lol

  5. Ma che senso ha imballarle singolarmente?
    Quanto spreco di plastica 🤦
E oltretutto si fa anche fatica ad aprirli ... Eppure è strano perché sembrano facili da aprire, ma secondo me il problema è che sono appiccicose.

    1. Australia is doing ok as far as plastic bags go, and improving. We don't use plastic bags at the supermarket we take our own cloth bags or similar. For other shopping as in clothes we can take our own bag or pay for one that isn't plastic. I guess doing each lolly separate is to stop them from sticking together as some point and of course children so they can't open them..
The wrap around each lolly is certainly hard to break, infact I can't only with the scissors.

I've come across some very irritating packages. I don't know if they are supposed to be child-resistant packages or not, I just know that some are really adult-resistant as well like those drops. : )))

  7. You could cut them all out of the packaging and have them in a bowl, but there is a risk they would all stick together. I love butterscotch too.

    1. I guessed that Colin, but it's hard for adults..lol Love them and you wouldn't want to make me suffer by putting them in the top cupboard - would you?
Children don't have to go to school these days, you know that, don't you Colin?

  10. In the early 1950s, the other children at school used to eat lollies, but our family dentist/uncle wouldn't allow any child in the family to eat them. He said our other school friends will rot their teeth.. and he was correct. My brothers and I never had a filling.

    1. Wonderful Hels, a good man then. I never used to eat them either when I was a child and adult, it just seemed to happen one day these past 5 years and that's the truth.

  11. Secure packaging can be difficult for oldies. you need to put a pair of scissors in the packet. Good luck.

  12. Oh, I know that struggle!
Individually wrapped lollies are tasty, but such a hassle sometimes.
    Happy Monday, Margaret!

Most annoying if you can't get them open.

    Fortunately, the candies were delicious.
I wish you a wonderful new week.

  17. Those look like a candy I would like too. Sometimes you can tear the top down where the perforations are and it will open. Other times if it has enough air in it, you can squeeze the candy and the plastic will pop open.

    1. Yes you can on some, but this one I couldn't and still can't, won't come out no matter what I do. You could say they are bullet proof...lol

  18. Hi Margaret, I sometimes use the cutting part of nail clippers to open things like this. It's a bit fiddly but it seems to work for me. I'm happy to be visiting you again and thank you for the sweet welcome back message :)
