The Roses

A dreadful tragedy happened at Bondi Beach in Sydney last evening.  A terrorist shooting by 2 men, father and son they targeted the Jewish people on the beach celebrating Hanukkah, the Jewish 'Festival of Lights' which turned into darkness.
I've given a link to what happened here, it's the TV news in writing and photos, at the moment it's on their front page but of course if it disappears a search on the site will find what happened.
We pray for those that died and the injured except one of the gunman.

To the Roses.

These photos were taken early November in our garden.  Not all the roses are out as yet, they are not looking great this year, rather leggy as if reaching for the sun.  Not a good year for our roses.

The above rose is Double Delight.

The above rose is a Standard Crepuscule.  The below one is Just Joey.

Above and below are not roses as such but are called Banksia Roses and are growing up the trellis over the front brick arch of the house.

These two photos are Pink Iceberg

The above photo is White Climbing Iceberg which is growing up and along the side fence, we have 3 of these.  Below rose is called Queen Elizabeth.

The below rose is called Apricot Nectar.

    1. Oh Stefania, so dreadful was the attach at Bondi Beach in Sydney - who would have thought the terrorists would attach there - such sorrow.
It was live on the TV last evening into the night and it's on again today - we pray for those killed and injured (except one gunman dead and his son, one injured)
We sat here watching and in shock. Just dreadful.

    1. The apricot nectar is a beautiful coloured rose. The wind has ruined all the roses. I'll give them a prune and the next flowering should be much improved.

  3. Roses are my favorite flower. I prefer to see them on the plant rather than in a vase.

    1. They the roses do make a pretty show in the garden as many flowers do, Norma. I don't mind a lovely vase of roses in a vase once in awhile.

    1. I do like yellow roses unfortunately most of our yellow ones haven't done well over the years. One named Gold Bunny is a good one but it's hard to get hold of it here.

  9. Even in a difficult season, there is a quiet grace in the way the roses and banksia roses stretch toward the light, lending the garden a gentle, persevering beauty

  10. Well, although you say not a good year for your roses, I still think they look beautiful.

  11. They look pretty great to my eyes!
Overcast here this morning and yesterday the sand in the surf area must have been
very high - washed in I suppose as the surfers were at least 100 metres or more out
    and still waist high!
The surfing fraternity were all along the beach right up past Wamberall. To run / walk along the beach there would be great exercise and the running fraternity strut their
    stuff with vigor
    Cheers

PS: Shocking at Bondi Beach last evening - carnage!!

Just dreadful what happened at Bondi Beach. Watched it on the TV last evening and it's on today, all day too. Love all the flowers people have brought to pay their respects.

    1. Love Banksia Roses, the yellow one grows the best.
Nicely formed rose is that Apricot Nectar.

  13. The Banksia Rose is very attractive, as long as it has a real colour (not white) and a real fragrance.

  15. I love Banksia Roses and prefer the yellow over the white. A garden one block over from me has the Apricot Nectar right along her front fence. What is the name of the first rose with the red/yellow/white colour?

    1. The yellow banksia always does better than the white and shows more because it's yellow. That would be pretty to have some many apricot nectar roses.
I'm not sure what the name of the first rose is, R it looks as if it could be 'Double Delight'. A link for you to look and see. It certainly looks as if it is.

  16. What a terrible tragedy happened in your country.
We saw it on the news last night too.
I just can't understand why people would just shoot other people for fun.
Then the photos of the roses, I think they're truly beautiful. For me, the rose "Just Joey" is truly amazing, especially the one in the third photo.
    Best regards Irma

A nossa socirdade resvala, constantemente, para atitudes extremistas de violência inusitada.
As rosas estão em contrapnto dessa notícia e são um bálsamo refrescante.
