I'm not that fond of coffee but used to be. These days we have a coffee machine so a decent cup or mug of coffee can be given to visitors and ourselves once in a while. I usually drink water but have a cup of tea for breakfast. These beans below go into the grinder and are an Italian blend. I add to the coffee for visitors, sometimes for us too. Visitors seem to love it. What do I add? Jameson Irish Whiskey is one spirit I use; another is Frangelico or Tia Maria both a liqueur.
A Capuchino is what I prefer, one I made below.
I'm probably one of the few people in the world who doesn't drink coffee. I also drink tea for breakfast. I drank coffee many years ago, but since then I've only drunk tea. I like Earl Grey very much.
ReplyDeleteI thought I was the odd one out not drinking a lot of coffee but seems I'm not after all. Nothing like a nice hot cup of tea.
DeleteIt looks delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt was Anne.
DeleteMargaret, fish, salad and chips sounds delicious! Your Cappuccino looks very good. I am a tea lover, my favourite being Earl Grey! In the evening I love a cup of herbal tea such as mint, but I also love a cup of chocolate Ovaltine with milk! :) Especially in the colder months.
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious Linda. Interesting you like tea too. There used to be an Ovaltine factory about 100km from home here, but it's long gone.
DeleteMargaret, me dieron ganas de tomar un cafecito, que rico se ve.
ReplyDeleteTodo se ve delicioso.
Un post muy sabroso.
Que pases un feliz fin de semana.
Besos
Thank you. 😊
DeleteI don't drink coffee or tea...but I do love the coffee aroma :-)) That's a very delicious meal.
ReplyDeleteIt was delicious Angie. So I wonder what you drink, Angie - water or water cordial!
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteAlthough we are British, one of us NEVER drinks tea. Many people in Budapest are amazed by this as they truly believe that the whole of the UK is filled with tea-drinking individuals who have little to no idea about coffee and cannot get even the tea right as it surely should be lukewarm and sweetened with honey!! Still, as we say, there are always cultural differences when you choose to live abroad.
Prawn cocktail with Marie-Rose sauce....now that is something we can both agree is delicious.
Your Marie-Rose sauce is our Cocktail Sauce, or I believe it's also called Thousand Island Dressing, a must on Prawns.
DeleteInteresting what people in Budapest think of 'tea', makes me smile. Most people years ago in Australia used to drink tea then the Italians, Greeks and other Europeans came to live and work so hence over time Coffee became very popular here, Jane and Lance.
I like coffee now and then but I drink more tea than anything else.
ReplyDeleteThat's how I am Mary. Went out with one of my daughters in laws yesterday for lunch and I had water; she had a soft drink but everyone else was drinking coffee that I could see.
DeleteThe food looks delicious. I drink coffee, no additives, just black.
ReplyDeleteA straight black for you then Bill, I can make that..lol
DeleteI can not stand the smell or taste of coffee
ReplyDeleteI can join you on that because I went through that stage but ok now of course.
DeleteThe food looks wonderful. I prefer tea to coffee too.
ReplyDeleteWell that's good Liam, I'd hate to see tea not drunk as it is always a good brew.
DeleteThe prawns and the liquor coffee for me.
ReplyDeleteThe barramundi - YUK - almost as bad as crocodile which at Port Douglas
Bill Clinton ( ex-President) who I drank copiously with in a bar tried the crocidile
I said Bill you'll throw up - one mouthful and out it came. We continued Imbibing - much safer and had our photo taken by one of the staff. Hillary was out with
some aboriginal women viewing artifacts etc.
Next day Bill was going out whale watching on their migration - I could have gone
but I get sea sick. I ran into Hillary who informed me that I was responsible for Bill
throwing up all night!!!
Anyhow I was forgiven and we had coffee - safer!!!!
I also ran into Barack Obama and his wife there years later - boy oh boy can
Michelle Talk - Barack never got a word in but it was fun.
Strange how former US Presidents like Port Douglas.
Caroline Kennedy had her honeymoon there.
Bobby and Ethel also visited and JFK and Jacqui were also coming
but shooters ( note: Shots from two angles !!!! - kept under wraps???)
All started with Bush Senior - he loved golf - don't all US Presidents!!!
Actually with the golf - thus we had the golf tournament - US v's Australia.
I think it is called the Presidents Cup. One year Australia and the next in the USA,
Lets hope the looney at present doesn't hear of that - anyhow he wouldn't know where Australia was - ha ha!
And the locals would go ballistic!!!
Lovely sunny day here so off to the beach.
Cheers
Colin
The "nippers" are having a carnival at the beach - like little porpoises !
DeleteGoing hell for leather - fantastic to see that they can swim so well and
show no fear whatsoever.
Colin
Colin, You have told me those tales before but that's ok, nice to be reminded.
DeleteI love Coral Trout but we don't seem to have it down here, we did have it a few times in Makay at a restaurant.
Glad all is good on and in the water there.
Coffee is king in our house.
ReplyDeletehi David, I'm river and I hope to be forgiven for asking this here: are you prepared to do "Words for Wednesday" for a month next year? I have taken over from Sue who has passed away suddenly and words plus preferred month can be sent to my blog https://river-driftingthroughlife.blogspot.com.au or if you wish to not continue please let me know.
DeleteI'm told coffee in Melbourne is much nicer than in the US, so how is it in Canada, I wonder...good if you make it yourself I expect David.
DeleteWe buy coffee beans from a local processor and grind them two or three times a week and the coffee is delicious. I am drinking my first cup of the morning right now.
DeleteTrust you enjoyed your coffee. I grind my beans just before making the coffee.
DeletePrawns AND Barramundi in one day! I'd be in heaven. Coffee in my house is the cheapest instant powder kind.
ReplyDeleteYes, R we often do that, make a day a fish day.
DeleteUsed to years ago when I drank coffee use powder, nothing wrong with it.
Me dio ganas del capuchino y de los camarones. te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteSeeing food often does that to us. Thank you and the same to you.
DeleteThe food looks delicious, Margaret.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had coffee in 10 years, I don't like it anymore.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Greetings Irma
Thank you Irma. Our tastes do change over the years.
DeleteI like a cup or two of tea in the mornings and a coffee in the afternoon. I do like a drop or more of liqueur in my coffee too. That Barramundi looks delicious it is one of my favourites. I am glad you still follow my blog and yes, we are still caravanning, but not so often, and not too far from home these days.
ReplyDeleteSimilar tastes we have then and if not the same, Rosie.
DeleteWe don't caravan at all now as we sold ours about 18 months ago. Enjoy your trips.
I can't remember ever having Barramundi. Is it a mild tasting fish? The shrimp look delicious too. We had cod for our dinner last night. I usually sip on a glass of water off and on all day but normally enjoy a coffee in the morning. Adding those liqueurs sounds wonderful Margaret! In the afternoon I drink a cup of green tea and in the evening a chamomile infused with vanilla and honey. I knew something was missing, your coffee beans remind me I haven't had my early cup of coffee so I am heading to the coffee pot after this. Have a wonderful weekend :)
ReplyDeleteYes Denise, Barramundi is a good tasting fish and not strong, it's fleshy as in thick so you know you have a bite of it.
DeleteI only add a dash of liqueurs just to give the coffee a little different taste.
Interesting the tea you drink, I just drink ordinary tea and never had anything different. Hope you enjoyed your coffee.
That turns a simple coffee into a fantastic treat.Your homemade cappuccino looks nice too, with that lovely layer of froth. It's the perfect little indulgence. The Prawn Cocktail is such a classic, refreshing way to start a meal.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I make a much larger prawn cocktail then I'm too full to eat dinner until rather late in the evening, but that doesn't matter.
DeleteLove the froth on the cappuccino.
I'm a tea drinker but I do keep coffee in the house for those who prefer it.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks delicious.
Have a good new week, October is speeding by!
All the best Jan
Thank you, Jan., Yes, we have to have both for when people drop in.
DeleteI love coffee 😊 and of course a good cappuccino.
ReplyDeleteWhat a delicious meal!
Have a great week
Thank you Maria.
DeleteI'm one of those odd people who doesn't like tea or coffee! :D
ReplyDeleteI know several people who don't like either, Nikki.
DeleteHello Margaret
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine a day without a small, or even very small, but still strong cup of coffee. Of course, I only drink whole bean coffee; I don't like instant coffee, because it's completely different. Of course, I like to add something for flavor or aroma from time to time.
And with that fish—you've made me hungry! :)
Have a great day!
I don't like instant coffee anymore at all, much prefer the beans which are ground just before making the coffee.
DeleteYes sometimes seeing food does make us hungry.
I drink two cups a day.. black and strong.
ReplyDeleteWell that's ok then. Enjoy.
DeleteBeautiful post dear Margaret 🥰👍
ReplyDeleteYou have coffee beans to grind first , sounds cool as they might taste lot better than grinded one we buy here .our winters are so short so we have to wait for cool weather to take a cup of coffee ☹️ still no chilling weather here 😞
I think you are very wise to eat healthy food my friend as everything looks so nice 👌♥️🫂
Thank you Baili and I can appreciated no hot drinks in the heat that you have there.
DeleteI love hot drinks and one of the ones I really love is hot lemon water with cinnamon, ginger, turmeric and sometimes instead of lemon, I use orange. So good.
ReplyDeleteI bet it is good, all those ingredients sound tasty. I often have a lemon hot drink in winter.
DeleteDelightful post Margaret... fish is always my fav
ReplyDeleteThank you Ashok.
