Hawley Beach, Tasmania

Photos of Hawley Beach near Port Sorell and not too far from Devonport, Tasmania Australia.
Once upon a time Hawley Beach or the township was very small and shacks were 'the thing' on the risen bank, these days beautiful houses have been built to replace those shacks and further land became available for houses to be built.  There is a supermarket chain and other stores situated at Hawley.
We spend several holidays in school holiday time when our children were small at this beach, it's where our sons learned to ride their bikes on the hard sand.  Good memories.

  1. Beautiful images. They remind me of some of the Portuguese beaches.

    1. It is a relative safe beach for swimmer and a few rocks about but the beaches are sort of separated by the rocks when the tide is coming in...makes an interesting beach.

  2. It is always difficult to find a perfect spot for children to learn to ride their bikes, so learning on Hawley Beach sounds like a great choice to have made.

    1. It is hard to find a suitable place, but if they fell off their bikes it wasn't hard on the beach but the sand was hard enough to ride on.

  4. Se habrá convertido en una zona turísticas y han hecho unas buenas urbanizaciones. Es un lugar muy tranquilo, para pasar unas largas vacaciones.

    1. Nice houses but they are looking older there now even though it's not too long since they were built. The whole area is nice.

    1. Yes have to agree with you Bill. Remember travelling up the middle of Australia (The big Island) and the clouds felt as if you could hop onto one then another...amazing to see.

  13. Good day, dear Margaret. Beaches are my passion. The sea as well. As for oceans, they're my dreams for a while, unfortunately. The views are marvellous.
I'm surprised to read that your sons were learning to ride bikes on the beaches. Is it comfortable to ride bikes on the sand?

    1. Yes the sand there is hard where the tide comes is, it's not soft and with little children it was excellent to ride their bikes on, larger children not so.

    2. Great. I can't ride a bike))) If I were in Australia, I'd learn how to ride a bike on the beach.
