Where we will travel with Distances!

The first map with distance is from Lauceston in Tasmania, Australia to where it says on the top of the map.  These are the places we are going to and of course more kms and miles will be done.  It's estimated we will do approximately 14,000 kms about 9,000 miles.

The last map of Australia in full showing our travel path.
Please read carefully and if needed click on the image to make it larger.

  1. Fascinating! The distances are staggering to a European used to everything on a small scale. Have fun... looking forward to "traveling with you"!

    1. When it's a big country and not many towns one has to take it seriously...many places no water, power...

  5. Margaret, take a bow. Brilliant mapping of distances to be travelled.
Looks like map and route reading skills are a forte for you. Then with all
your internal travelling over the years, I guess this can only be expected.
There will be no doubting now of the size of Australia.
Some of these stopovers are places of such interest. Broome and Albany (WA)
are places I would just love to see.
Enjoy the "delights" of Coober Pedy and make sure the water tanks are full - ha ha.

Shanks Pony would have no hope on this Aussie odyssey you are undertaking.
The poor old bloke would have passed on just looking at your excellent mapping
route - stimulants would have been a waste of money - ha ha.
    Cheers
    Colin
Looks like the makings of a wonderful 4th July day here - I guess the
CBD bar malls will be packed with American revelers.

    1. Thank re maps :) One has to know exactly where you are going on the roads where we go. Research is important because in many areas there is no water or power, this you have to know before the journey.

  8. That's a loooong trip.
Wonder how long such a trip would take a couple of centuries ago when travel was by camel?
    Imagine the heat and flies!
So glad you have a comfortable car for this holiday.
