Margaret your country is very sapcious. The landscape breathtaking amazing masterpiece of God
It is a masterpiece for sure...and a large one at that..
I wonder what it's like to live in an underground house?
Adam, I have no idea. Be just the same as living on top of the soil, but underground you have stone or whatever walls....photos are coming of underground houses. It's extremely hot in the summer time and cold in winter...underground it keeps more of an even temperature all year round..
I didn't realize part of the underground houses is above ground. So interesting how people adapted to the extreme temperatures in a way that allowed them to survive. That white rock really stands out against all the red color. I wonder what it's made of.
Cynthia - it might be stone age fossil salt?Colin
All this far a I can recall and according to my photos, all houses underground the entrance is at the side of a hill...Beautiful colours of the earth and surrounds. I searched to find out what the mounds/hills are made of, couldn't find.
The images seem taken the legendary West .Kisses
Movies have been made here at times...including a couple of Mad Max Movies, if you are familiar.
Harsh, unforgiving and beautiful country.
It is but beautiful to see. Well I think it is.
No arguments from me. It is beautiful. Just country to be careful in.
Agree 100% with "EC" - it is harsh, unforgiving countryside - not for the faith hearted.Still it is what makes us what we are and we love our country the best and most beautifulwith all types of topography in the World.Signing out now from PC and E-mail land - holidays are not meant to waste time with such things, unless like your leisurely travels and doing a travelogue of great interest - mine will be computer free - ha ha.CheersColin
Enjoy your holiday and have fun...
I would love to see the dingo fence in person and those underground houses, all these photos are bloody great.
Bet you it's warm there.I like this area, I like the feeling of space .Merle.......
Plenty of space Merle, heaps of it. Yes in summer is very hot well over 46degC
3rd photo, looks like those mounds have been built upon, but a couple of photos later I see it is just caves.I like the spaciousness out there, sometimes here in the flats I feel as if all my neighbours are far too close. Handy if I fall and can't get up, I can just yell for help, but I can hear them pee and that's TMI.
Not sure if I would like to live in a flat, but of course if I had to I would...gosh must be thin walls...lol
Dingo fence... is that the same as the rabbit proof fence?
No...there is a Rabbit fence over your way...
Oh, that's a beautiful place !!!Thanks for sharing your fantastic photos !Greetings
Would that white rock formation be made of salt or limestone?
I expect it might be limestone. I looked it up and really couldn't find out...
Further proof of just how diverse and interesting our wonderful country is.
It sure is diverse, from the sea, beaches to Coober Pedy and beyond.
Fantastic! I've been to Coober Pedy a couple of times, but never to the Breakaways! Looks like a great place to take your camera!!
Next time you will get there. I believe that near the Breakaways Mad Max was filmed, part of it..
We live in such a diverse country - the landscape is just amazing. Loving your holiday photos.
