A nice City.

On dark dingy wet winter day last year when on holiday in winter we headed to Maryborough in Queensland to see what was there.  Rather surprised by all the older buildings so beautifully maintained. Many of these photos were taken from the vehicle as there wasn't anywhere to park! Yes, on a Sunday.
Maryborough is not that far from Hervey Bay where we were staying.

The town/city is approximately 255 kilometers (160 mi) north of the state capital Brisbane.

  2. The buildings are well maintained. It is quite a wealthy part of the state I think.

    1. Would be awful to walk or drive there and see those older building in ruin, so it's a real pleasure to see them in such good shape.

  4. It is lovely. As others have said, so well maintained - which can't come cheap. The results are charming though.

    1. It does look lovely and I think with the darkish day, no blaring sun they photograph more to their colour.

  13. Very good shots, of those old buildings. I imagine, that the car would go, slowly crossing the streets.

  14. Plenty of civic pride in Maryborough.
It is a very rich area on the agricultural side of the economy.

  15. Maryborough certainly does have some lovely old buildings and houses. A lot of history there....

The Mary River that runs through Gympie also runs through Maryborough and empties into the Great Sandy Strait,(the strait between the mainland and Fraser Island) at River Heads, a little south of Hervey Bay. A cousin of my ex lived for many years at River Heads. He's now living in Hervey Bay.

Both Gympie (my hometown) and Maryborough hosted each other's school teams in competition when I was much younger and fitter than I am now! :)
