Katherine Gorge (2)

Katherine Gorge in the Northern Territory of Australia.  These photos are a continuation from those taken by me { here }

The first photo is aboriginal art on the cliff face. The other photos give you an idea what you see when in the boat going along the gorge, the different shapes of the rocks and wall of the gorge.  There have been several movies shot in and around the Katherine Gorge.

  6. I can't remember the pink colours in the gorge. The holiday was our first with a digital camera in 2005.

    1. Goodness, a long time ago was 2005, Andrew. I took the photos with either my Nikon or Canon SLR Camera, in some areas there was a pink tinge and others ochre, always a different colour.

  7. It is amazing - one place I missed however the rest of the family have all been there
    with photos galore.
I can't recall the names of the movies made in that area but they
    were all very good.
Another miracle here - no continual rain - 7 days here but we have had
some house and tree smashing short storms,
Quite scary - so far I have JUST avoided them on my return visits from
    the Pub.
I went BY MISTAKE to the Pub on Superbowl day - I never knew that there
were so many yanks in this area - the pub did a roaring trade - they
apparently drank in bucket loads and the NOISE could have been heard
    in Buenos Aires, Argentina !!!
    Cheers
    Colin

    1. It's a place where just sit on the boat in awe of everything and click away with the camera so you can look back and remember every detail, Colin.
So lots of yelling at the pub then, very noisy it seems, but I bet you had a good time.
No rain, you are lucky after all that spring rain you had, heard about the storms, no rain here as yet and it's rather warm today at 31 deg C Humidity only 50%.

    2. I can assure you I did not my ears are still ringing.
So that place - the Pub - is off the visiting routine on Superbowl day
      just like the Melbourne Cup.
I place my once a year 4 place bet on the day before and stay home
for Australia's "unofficial" National Day as you know as i send to friends my selections which never eventuate - close but not the magic lot.
Still I'll plug away - but running out of time - ha ha.
Another lovely day here, but storms at night and LOUD!
      Cheers
      Colin

    3. Peace and quiet for you then it seems, Colin.
Finally, it's raining tonight, might cool things down and put out the fires that are burning madly in our west.

    1. It is large and it beats me as to how they managed to put their art there.

I think it would be great to sail past there with a boat.

  16. The scale of these large monumental rocks can be imagined, but it is best to see them live. I know what a great impression they make. Being in the mountains you can see huge blocks of rock and you can compare how big and powerful they are.
Certainly, what a ride it is great fun.
    Regards :)

    1. It was great to be able to ride on the boat up the river, and those cliffs were very high and to think that when it rains a lot the water rises very high, it's hard to believe.
