Lavender farm.

Bridestowe Lavender Farm is not that far from home at Nabowla in the north east of the Island.  Many visitors go there each year in season when the lavender is in bloom but you can go anytime of the year.  I have posted photos of the Lavender Farm before but these are different photos except for one.  Most people that visit my blog wouldn't know this farm existed.
The Denny family from England settled in the Lilydale area, they brought with them Lavender seeds from the French Alps, Lavandula Angustifolia (the true French Lavender.) before their journey.  They chose Lilydale due to it's climate similar to where Lavender was grown in France.  Eventually the farm was moved to it's present site which is not that far from Lilydale.
The fields contain about 650,000 plants.  The total length of the rows is estimated to be 200km, (124m).

I can't comment on blogs as in reply for some reason on my laptop or tower computer, however there are just two that will permit me to, so I have to use my phone as I can't comment with my old phone, seems blogger is very fussy - so for me blogger has a glitch!

The Bee

Love to see Bees in the garden particularly on the plants.  This Lavender to me is a pretty one and we call it Spanish Lavender.  We used to have a fishpond in the back yard but it's long gone!

Lavender Farm in 2015

Bridestowe Lavender Farm we visited this year, last post two years ago here.
It's a big farm spreading north, south, east and west.  Up hills and down.
The sun plays a large part of the colour of the lavender, and this year was no different.

This Oak tree was planted in 1881.

The sun was under but peeking through on the left of the photo.

A selfie with the stick :) The farm is popular with Chinese visitors.

Part of the gift shop.  There is also a restaurant which servers Lavender flavour food and also without.

Bridestowe Lavender Farm. Tasmania, Australia.

We set off this morning to view the lavender at Bridestowe Lavender Farm at Nabowla, Tasmania, Australia.  Bought a little Teddy Bear, the larger bears are just under AUD 50.00, and I found some on eBay selling for AUD 350.00, why I don't know.  Apparently these larger bears have wheat inside of them and can be put in the microwave then used for medicinal requirements.
The Chinese have gone crazy over these bears which are not that large when all said and done, but they are made in Tasmania, where as the little ones are made in China :)
There is a gift shop, selling lavender products, and of course a small restaurant which we didn't attend today.

Plenty of bees!
