Another days drive in New Norfolk, Tasmania

Back in March we went for another drive whilst staying at the caravan park.

Hops growing and taken with my phone.  The last photo was another day and we were headed to the Gorden Dam in the South Western area of Tasmania..A few years ago there was a big bush fire in the bush and many hectares of trees were burnt.

Blayney to Sandy Hollow NSW

Scenery along the Bylong Gighway NSW through a somewhat rugged area as we travelled from Blayney to Sandy Hollow NSW. We hadn't been through this way before.
Some photos taken out the window others not.

The area called Growee, NSW

Area called Murrumbo

Bylong area in NSW

Down the hill if the area called Kerrabee, NSW

Murrumno, NSW

A long Paddock at Ginghi, NSW  There was a caravan parked on the side of the road but off the road with drovers looking after a great many cattle.  It appeared that the cattle would be there for sometime to come eating grass off the side of the road.

Up in the Lake Country

On the way to the Great Lake and other lakes in the area we came through Cressy a small rural town. The 1st photo is on the way to the Lake Country and you can see the hills/mountain in the distance.  The way up is very windy as in several S Bends, so you meet yourself coming back :)
I've written before about the Great Lake, statistics below in 2016, but it was good to see the level of the lake a bit higher than in that drought year.
The last photo is of an outdoor loo at Arthur's Lake.  There will be photos of some of the shacks or houses next post.

The Great Lake is a natural lake and man-made reservoir that is located in the central northern region of Tasmania, Australia.
Area: 114 km² Surface elevation: 1,030 m
Length: 22 km
Catchment area: 399 km²
Year built: 1967
Outflow location: Shannon River
Town: Miena
We ventured up to the lake and surrounding areas on Sunday to see how low the water level was.  The lake supplies water for some of the Hydro Power to Tasmanian's.
The lake is very low for this time of year.
In the photos you will see where the normal level is expected to be.

The Hills of Colebook, Tasmania

Onto Hobart for a family picnic in early March we went through Richmond passing first Campania (see map below) then onto Cambridge next to the Hobart Airport to stay in the caravan park there for 3 nights.  Whilst we were there the temperature was 39 degC.
The view is rather lovely looking down the valley at Campania.
The photos were taken as we moved along.

Irishtown, Tasmania.

Whilst staying at Stanley we headed inland for a drive through farmland and turning back towards Smithton same day.
Irishtown is small with farms scattered here and there and about 300 or so people in the area.

The photo is of onions, the second of farmland, then a watering hole and scenery. It's very pretty looking around that way with windy roads.

Scenery along the way to Fitzroy Crossing

From Kununurra To Fitzroy Crossing WA, a Map below.
Shown in blue the highway we took, in fact it's the only road that I know of.
We left early in the morning from Kununurra arriving at Fitzroy Crossing after a 648 klm drive ( 403 miles approx.) in a day, taking 7 hours.
One small town between called Halls Creek.

During this day trip I took several photos from the moving vehicle - if they are a bit blurred you know why.

So beginning with the late sunrise on the highway.  Not that the sunrise was late :) it was difficult in that particular area to get a photo before the sunrise disappeared.

The above three photos are of Mary Poole which is a rest area/overnight stay or longer for caravans, motorhomes.  No power, no water, it's dusty, sandy and dry.  Cattle can wander around though we didn't see any there.
The above photo is the creek with certainly no sign of water.  We just called in but continued on.

As we travelled along this lonely highway in the distance we saw flashing lights, lots of vehicles, then we saw a caravan in the bush in one piece without a vehicle attached.
The closer we came to the flashing lights it was easy to see, the fire brigade, the police and an ambulance.  Spotted was this 4 wheel drive burnt and still smoking hot.
Presume the man with the fire extinguisher in one hand and water in the other was the owner.
How he got the caravan unhitched by himself was a miracle.
