Mt. Barrow continued

Today is our Wedding Anniversary, next year will be the big one and not that many couples get to the big one, let's hope we do next year.

Mt. Barrow continued - at the top it's flat with a workman's hut or whatever it's called but no one lives there. The 2nd and 3rd photos are looking towards the other TV tower/s plus a road the workers drive on to the towers but the public and not permitted. The remainder is the beginning of the descent.

A good place to eat.

 We have frequented Villarett Gardens many times over the last several years for lunch.  It's in the Kimberley area behind Elizabeth Town in the northern area of Tasmania.  It's about 71km a 51 minute drive from home here.  Years ago the restaurant which is still licensed was attached to the house then a new restaurant was built a short walk up the hill on the property of 10 acres..   Many wedding receptions are held there and my hairdresser had hers there.

The gardens are beautifully manicured and certainly worth a walk through them.  These days the restaurant is only open from Friday at 10.30 am to 16.00 hours.  It was open for much longer but as the owners are older they have made the days and hours of opening much shorter.

The sea

Some photos that I forgot to post back in mid spring taken on one of our drives.  

These photos were taken at a rest area near Wynyard along the north west coast of the Island.  We bought lunch and sat on this seat, watched the little yachts doing their races, we looked towards Tablecape where the Tulips are grown.

The sea is Bass Strait.

Bridport, Tasmania, Australia

The Bridport Lighthouse was built in 2017, so it's certainly not old and it's a concrete round one that serves the purpose for the local area. The sea is Bass Strait.

The photos were taken near the lighthouse at Bridport in the north eastern area of Tasmania.

Home again

 Home again till next holiday probably Easter away from home.  The weather this time wasn't the best, it rain and was very windy where we stayed at Smithton and then Stanley, both places are known for 'wind' and the towns are on the North West Coast of Tasmania, Australia, the map below.  We stayed in the caravan on those windy rainy days and it just wasn't fit to go out, most people in the caravan park did as we did.  Odd, but at Stanley there was no TV in the caravan park, we have stayed there before several times over the years but when Digital TV came into being hardly anyone was able to get TV in the park. The Cabins have TV, the TV room in the park has TV and all the houses in the town have TV.  My husband and I watch the news on our phones as we were able to get TV on them.

We encountered a snake on our travels by the sea whilst in the vehicle, the snake was slithering across the gravel road Robbins Island Road. A Tiger Snake which if bitten is poisonous as all the snakes are in Tasmania.  I believe we have 3 varieties if not 4.

I took the photo from inside the vehicle as we were moving, this is the sharpest photo.

The Whales, Tasmania

Whales that beached on our west coast near Strahan, Tasmania, Australia just the other week.

It's sad that so many pilot whales did this and about 44 were returned to sea.  240 whales became stranded on Ocean Beach on our North West Coast.

More that 204 dead whales with a combined weight between 500 and 600 tonnes were tied to a 400-metre long rope and towed out to deep water approximately 40km off the coast of Strahan in the Indian Ocean.

Evandale, Tasmania

Evandale here in Tasmania is about a 15 to 20 minute drive from home.  It's an historic town with about 1,350 people.  Not much has changed in Evandale it's rather like moving back in time. When we visited my good friend we went for a little walk in the main street and I took these shots.

The last photo used to be a Restaurant which several of us frequented. 

A Sunday drive

One Sunday whilst in Huonville we went for a drive around it a big circle or square, some photos of the journey, more later. First photo is the Supermarket area, second an older home in need of repair.  All photos were taken as we moved along in the car.

Tassall is a Tasmanian Salmon producer based in Huonville, Tasmania and other areas of Tasmania. This is one of their buildings.
