Tuckers Creek, Tasmania

 We headed into the city here in Launceston to buy something then we went to Scottsdale again, bought our lunch at the bakery, ate it at Tuckers Creek where there is an area for caravans and motorhomes at a small cost.  It's a nice view of the Creek. 

Scottsdale is 62.4 km on a windy road from Launceston, Tasmania.

The area was first surveyed in 1855 and was described as, 'the best soil on the island, well-watered, with a mild climate' by the surveyor James Reid Scott, for whom the town was named. The first land was selected in 1859 and the hamlet of Ellesmere grew up.  Ellesmere Post Office opened in 1865 and was renamed Scottsdale in 1893.  I have no idea why the creek is called Tuckers Creek.

Last day of Winter

We went from Launceston to Scottsdale on the last day of winter and I took these shots at a rest stop with a view of the valley below which is the rural town of Scottsdale in the North Eastern area of Tasmania. Lovely to see the Tasmanian Wattle out as well.

Many bends in the road which is called the Sidling, then we went down the east coast going through Welborough Pass another windy road to St. Helens, then back up to St. Mary's Pass another windy road, but fun in the new car.  I drove so couldn't take any photos other than the ones below.

The new car which is a Kia Selton GT AWD 2023 model top of the range Petrol car. It has a few different things in it than in Europe and America as this model shown is for Australia. The roads we take sometimes don't have electric stations so hence the petrol, and seeing as we go (sometimes) for a long ride when we go we would need to refuel etc.

The rest stop not far from Scottsdale and just off the Sidling with a good view of the rual area.  Some of the photos were taken with my Nikon and some with my phone.

The Sidling, near Scottsdale, Tasmania.

The Sidling near Scottsdale in the North Easter of Tasmania is a winding road, a highway of about 63km (39m). Not far from Scottsdale there is a parking area for a rest, or to view the view.
Dairy farming, poppy fields, potatoes and vegetables and mixed farming is the norm of this town.
These photos were taken the same day when we visited the Lavender Farm.

Zoomed in to take this photo of what is below the Rest Area. The view is similar to the North East and South East.

In this area the natives are in bloom.  We don't know what the flower is called.

For those who haven't seen our signs.  Bridport is a North Eastern seaside area, as is St. Helens to the East.
