Beaches

A bit of trivia on Beaches around Tasmania, Australia.

Well, there are 11,761 recorded beaches around Australia, and I expect including Tasmania my home State which has over 16,000 recorded beaches.  These 11,761 Australian beaches are spread over 50,000+ kilometer of coastline and ever changing.  That's so many beaches that it would take roughly 226 years to see them all if you visited one per week.  So, the coastline is linked by over 10,000 beaches, more than any other country in the world.

Australia does not charge anyone to swim in the sea, it's free coming and going as one pleases.
There are a few beaches that have pebbles on them, even rocks which is normal but mostly there is sand from coarse to very fine grains of sand coloured from dark to white.

The photos are of a few beaches in Tasmania, Australia.

Big Possum Beach

Home again after Easter. Beautiful days before Easter and lovely days after, the weather of the Easter week wasn't the best but it was good to see people out and about in the rain and cold for those few days.

Photos are of Big Possum Beach about 900m long near Port Arthur, Tasmania taken in Summer time.

The last photo was taken along the beach further south.

Where the Heart is is Big Possum Beach.

The beach at Devonport, Tasmania

Whilst at Devonport the other day we went to look at the Mersey River, the tide was out as you can see.  This is the river that the ships sail up to Bass Strait, the ferry to Melbourne and freight ships.
The first 2 photos are of the Mersey River, one looking southwards down the river, the other where Neptune is looking north and the mouth of the river and beginning of Bass Strait.

Then we have Coles Beach around further to the west of Devonport and houses directly opposite the beach.  There is a good parking area and facilities there.

My parents lived at Devonport for a number of years till their passing.

Beaches at The Gardens.

Ah! The Sea, and how beautiful it is in this area of The Gardens. The sand is very fine and white.
As one drives along the gravel road you see a sign or two to the beach, so we ventured down one of these roads a very short distance and came across this beach within The Bay of Fires which goes for some distance up and down the east coast of Tasmania.
In some of these off roads there are camping areas with loos, so hence the public are permitted to 'free camp'. Each morning they wake up and can see the sea, a few steps and in the water.

Stanley Beaches

Grodfreys Beach in Stanley curves for about 1.1 kms, is sheltered from the westerly winds as the beach faces east.  This is the beach that can be seen from the top of The Nut and also on top of the hill in The Nut post 2nd photo.

The last 3 photos were taken from the Caravan Park looking across Tatlows Beach and a lobster on top of the fish and chip shop.

In and around Coffs Harbour, New South Wales.

Winter 2017 we went up one of the many hills at Coffs Harbour in New South wales to take a few photos.  More beautiful beaches.
The weather was warm at 30 deg C and above whilst we were there, warmer than the year before.

Both the above and below photos are of Sawtell just below Coffs Harbour.

Below you can just see the horses in the water.

Peregian Beach, Sunshine Coast

We returned yesterday from a trip around Tasmania in the Caravan.  Gone just about 2 weeks.
Luckily I was able to view blogs and comment in many places using my phone whilst away.

So back to the holiday in Winter 2017.

Peregian Beach is a lovely long beach and we have visited it many times before.
People swim in the winter on the Sunshine Coast - well some people do, I'm not one of them.
