Trains and portable homes in Rockhampton, Queensland

Rockhampton is in the Tropic of Capricorn, Australia.
This long trains goes across one of the main streets, so it's a long wait.
The reason why is [here]

Transportable homes all stored in this holding yard till someone buys one.  I found a link to some houses that are the original and restored.  Link is [here].  I found these rather fascinating.

On the way to Emerald, Queensland.

Selection of photos taken on the way to Emerald in Queensland.  We went through a few mining areas.  Was odd to see this little 'shop' at a major intersection near the Highway.
The machinery was taken out the vehicles window.
The long train carrying ore, saw a lot of these coming and going as we travelled in this area.

Carnarvon, Western Australia.

Carnarvon in Western Australia the next place we stayed on our travels this year.

The town was founded in 1883, initially as a port and supply centre for the surrounding region, and is the administrative centre for the Shire of Carnarvon. The town site was officially gazetted on 4 June 1891, named after Henry Herbert, 4th Earl of Carnarvon.

Bananas are grown in the area known as Cavendish.  Tomatoes, grapefuit, mangoes and table grapes.
Cattle, goats, sheep and wool.

There is also mining, fishing and tourism.

During the 1960s, NASA set up a tracking station nearby to support the Gemini and Apollo space programs. The tracking station was closed in the mid-1970s. Only the foundations of the historical site remain.
