Selection of photos taken on the way to Emerald in Queensland. We went through a few mining areas. Was odd to see this little 'shop' at a major intersection near the Highway.
The machinery was taken out the vehicles window.
The long train carrying ore, saw a lot of these coming and going as we travelled in this area.
What an experience!!

It was and we had fun.
DeleteWonderful photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mildred.
DeleteI'm not sure why but trains are romantic for me.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's nice - many things used to happen on a train ride back in the day :)
DeleteHello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteWonderful pictures.
So nice to see that cargo train. That's my daily work to drive with.
Greetings, Marco
These trains were ever so long which we are not used to seeing.
DeleteHere in Tasmania people don't go to work on a train for there are none to go on, but we have freight trains in some areas.
I too like trains I think it's the clacky clack of the wheels, that is a wide load oh that truck .
ReplyDeleteMerle.............
Sometimes we meet a big rig on the back of the truck at a corner, sometimes we have to pull right over and stop, if they are real big there is an escort.
DeleteBuen cargamento, lleva el tren de mineral. Se ve una gran acción por la zona.
ReplyDeleteBesos
So many of there trains that carry ore in that area and further to the coast.
DeleteThere are some very big things in Queensland and looking at the map, it strikes me just how far Cairns is from Brisbane.
ReplyDeleteLots of 'big' things in Queensland.
DeleteOh gosh it's a long way from Brisbane to Cairns with not a lot between.
Those monster hauling trucks are a nuisance on the roads but they are essential to keep mining areas going with the movements of machinery.
ReplyDeleteMust say I had a laugh at the dam building comment. Dams with rain and on rivers do get pretty full in the wet season and Qld does have big "wets".
The ORE trains are incredible......all the electric train engines were taken up to the mines area leaving the diesel smoke guzzling engines and deafeningly noisey for taking the freight trains in and out of Brisbane suburbia!
"Can Do Campbell" was the responsible Premier for that idiotic idea.
I gather he didn't live near a railway line - ha ha!
Certainly was very dry in the Emerald region when you passed through going north. Maybe after the wet on the return trip the landscape would have been or should have been a lot greener.
Great post.
Cheers
Colin
If we come across those large trucks there are often a few in a row, not scattered here and there so that's makes sense.
DeleteWould have thought the electric trains would have gone all the way!
Another great post! Electric freight trains? Interesting.
ReplyDeleteYes, you see the wires above the trains in the photo.
DeleteI love the burger shop, in the open. And the elecric train, gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteCute little shop.
DeleteLooks like it was a pleasant trip. Lots sights to keep you and your camera busy.
ReplyDeleteWe hadn't been that way before so it was interesting.
DeleteInteresting areas out that way...thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome and you never know what you going to come across.
DeleteIt's been ages since I saw a very long freight train. As kids we used to ride our bikes to the railway crossing just to sit and watch them pass, then we'd ride real fast into town and watch them arrive at the silos or wharf.
ReplyDeleteOh River, those were the days :)
Deleteinteresting!
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteIt looks like you have had a great, exciting trip !
ReplyDeleteGreat photos !!
Have a happy weekend !
Thanks Ela and we did have a lovely time away.
Deleteinteresting phoos
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteWe were amazed by the length of the coal trains when we were up there.
ReplyDeleteThey seem to go forever.
DeleteGoodness that really is a long train.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Amazingly long.
DeleteThe tyres of a construction car are so big beyond my imagination. Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteThey are large and some are taller than we are.
DeleteNow that give a whole new meaning to heavy equipment!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does.
Deletetrain in mining area looks interesting ,
ReplyDeleteequipments look very heavy ,perhaps for mines work
Yes you are correct with the equipment, all for the mines.
DeleteThat sure is some huge equipment being transported. We have food trucks here that bring food to different areas for purchase and they are quite popular at the beach and other places people gather.
ReplyDeleteWe have a few that comes to the beaches, however there is usually a shop near by so not always necessary for a food van.
DeleteSuch large equipment sometimes we have to stop and pull over to the side of the road..
