We called into a Caravan Park in Mackay and stayed 10 nights as it was a bit warmer in the tropics. Many times we have stayed in the same caravan park and this time development had taken place with much improvement.
One open cut mine above, below part of the Darling Downs on the way.
The new concrete slabs at the caravan park, plus the bus fitted out as a caravan, below the Marina at Mackay.

It's a lovely country Australia, and it is a long way from home to up there in Mackay.
DeleteI am sure you were happy to see the improvements and it must be like going home to return to the same location.
ReplyDeleteAlways like going home if we've been there more than once, and there are so many places that that applies to - we are at a loss to know where to go each year.

DeleteThe slabs make so much difference to how clean the floor of your van stays. Tha Mackay marina looks very picturesque.

DeleteConcrete slabs are a God send really, I totally agree with you - don't have to wash the floor every day if there is a slab and good covering of grass for the other half.
I have a blog friend in Mackay. Nice to see a little more of her home town.
ReplyDeleteIt's rather a nice place though it does or can get cold in winter, remember it was 15 deg one year and the chill factor was dreadful, and that was for several days in a row. This winter the weather was a lot warmer especially on our way back down.

Always good to see the land flat as far as I'm concerned but after awhile it's good to see hills, mountains.

DeleteMackay is the central town for the mining fraternity out west from the town/city.

The Mackay airport is busy with the fly in - fly out/miners.
The daughter of friends of mine was an air hostie with Jet Star and she like many other cabin attendants always tried t0 avoid this "run". The miners
were pretty rough and ready passengers...........a nightmare for the cabin staff!
The Mackay Marina is much bigger than I envisaged. I bet some of those cabin cruisers belong to the top people of the mining fraternity.

DeleteApparently the mining has scaled down a little so not as many people in Mackay but still a lot.
I can imagine what the hosites had to put up with and still do.
There were miners cabins in some of the town we came through.
Mackay is a city.
Big motorhome! Big marina! Big open spaces! Pretty impressive.
