What a treat!

A treat to see this creature up close and personal.
My husband watched this Blue Tongue Lizard wander into the garage.  It was slow, probably thirsty as it was a hot day. Yes, we put some water nearby, but it wasn't interested. Finally, the lizard went under the fence to visit next door.
These lizards cause no harm and are not dangerous at all, the best thing to do is leave them alone.
I was sitting in the car when I took the first photo with my phone.

A poem after Valentine's Day

 A beautiful poem by George Gordon Bryon 1788 - 1824.

She Walks in Beauty is a short poem celebrating female beauty.  The beauty of the woman the speaker describes is in both her external appearance and her inner goodness.  Although it might generally be classified as a love poem the poet never actually declares that love.

An interesting poem for St. Valentine's Day.

SHE WALKS IN BEAUTY

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that' best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus, mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, an o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!

Katherine Gorge (2)

Katherine Gorge in the Northern Territory of Australia.  These photos are a continuation from those taken by me { here }

The first photo is aboriginal art on the cliff face. The other photos give you an idea what you see when in the boat going along the gorge, the different shapes of the rocks and wall of the gorge.  There have been several movies shot in and around the Katherine Gorge.

Kangaroo Fix

Kangaroos have lived Australia and are native to Australia for about 15 million years. The ancient ancestor has been traced back 24 million years to the Palaeopotorous - the starting point of all known kangaroo species.

They are a symbol of Australia and are featured on the country's coat of arms along with the Emu. Both creatures cannot go backwards - now that's interesting, maybe humans should do the same!

The photo I took of the two kangaroos was taken in a Zoo, and I often wonder when I look at the photo what these two are thinking.  Are they having a natter, is one of them sad - what do you think!

Just things!

About two days after the New Year this year our local supermarket, Woolworths had Easter Eggs and so on for sale, just a small display - a bit early I think.

Whilst there I took some photos as you drive out of the supermarket, the street is Hobart Road and about 5 minutes if the traffic lights are with you.  The last photo is the service station up the hill just before you turn the corner to go to our home.

The Maccas has just been redone, apparently the roof wasn't built correctly in the first place, the inside has been changed also.  I don't like Maccas as in the food and we rarely have it.  Maccas stands for MacDonalds.
