Kangaroos have lived Australia and are native to Australia for about 15 million years. The ancient ancestor has been traced back 24 million years to the Palaeopotorous - the starting point of all known kangaroo species.
They are a symbol of Australia and are featured on the country's coat of arms along with the Emu. Both creatures cannot go backwards - now that's interesting, maybe humans should do the same!
The photo I took of the two kangaroos was taken in a Zoo, and I often wonder when I look at the photo what these two are thinking. Are they having a natter, is one of them sad - what do you think!
Wonder what they are talking about !
ReplyDeleteThat what I also wonder. Perhaps the state of the world.
DeleteDidn't know that Kangaroo cannot go backwards...always good to learn something new and interesting. That's a beautiful picture and I think they probably gossiped what had been happening in the zoo :-))
ReplyDeleteMany stories to tell in the zoo, I'm sure.
DeleteConversation between 2 kangaroos
ReplyDeleteThey are very cute....
Yes they are cute.
DeleteThey are probably discussing how incredibly stupid and arrogant humans are. We have no trouble going backwards.
ReplyDeleteThat's the point David.
DeleteThat picture is great. I could see people making meme's from this one of the two of them talking.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, many things could be said of these two, Mary.
DeleteThey are cute.
ReplyDeleteThey are Anne.
DeleteHin hih they are comforting each other, very lovely💖Beautiful new header of the mail boxes👍
ReplyDeleteThank you Anita. Yes, they could be comforting each other, saying it will be ok.
DeleteSuch a marvelous photo!
ReplyDeleteThank you Giorgio.
DeleteWhat a beautiful photo and moment. Probably discussing how silly and stupid humans can be.
ReplyDeleteThat could be very true Bill. We go backwards they don't.
DeleteThese two are either a couple or a pair of friends
ReplyDeleteI reckon they are good friends. Hope they are not looking for a fight.
DeleteThat's sweet.
ReplyDelete"There there, dear. It will all be ok".
Wonderful Andrew, I did think of something like that..Guestures we can take a lot from them.
DeleteThat is a lovely photograph.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a comforting chat to me between these kangaroos.
All the best Jan
Thank you Jan. Well I do hope it's a fruitful chat.
DeleteLa fotografías es preciosas. Seguro que piensan en salir por el campo. Besos.
ReplyDeleteThank you Teresa. That's true they could be thinking of that.
DeleteWhen I look at that photo I can hear one saying, don't look but there is a human taking our photo
ReplyDeleteThat's a good one, Jo-Anne.
DeleteLindos canguros. Te mando un beso.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteA lovely photo and I would love to know what they were thinking or saying.
ReplyDeleteMe too R. Thank you.
DeleteBeautiful photo of the kangaroos.
ReplyDeleteThey are having a private conversation, I say.
I didn't know that they can't go backwards, that would be god for people too, just going forwards and thinking, what lies behind you is past time and a waste of your energy to invest time in that.
Greetings Irma
You say such true words, Irma. Thank you.
DeleteI think just discussing the trials of bringing up a young joey.
ReplyDeleteNow I see on the news Tassie has done it again - "BAY OF FIRES".
Top beach in Australian states.
Bit bloody cold in the water - 17c in summer and 13c in winter.
Brrrrrrrrrrrr! I think the "brass monkeys" might fall off.
Oh I am naughty.
Another fine sunny day here in Terrigal.
The Lord has rewarded us - not sure what for!!!! ha ha.
Must be me?????????
Cheers
Colin
Yes, he the Lord could of rewarded you with such fine weather. It's been warm down here at 28 to 33 deg C lately far from the spring and late autumn weather of 17 deg C, Colin.
DeleteEast Coast if often windy, due to being by the sea.
Lindos canguros. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteWhenever I have read or talked about those who are from Australia, it is the national symbol as you say, it is to be proud of them, I imagine they will be protected to prevent their extinction
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Best regards.
They are protected Jose. There are many of them throughout Australia.
DeleteGreat heartwarming shot!
ReplyDeleteYes it is for sure.
DeleteDid anyone set these two kangaroos up so that one is lightly resting an arm on the friend? If it is natural, it is a quiet, emotional expression of friendship or of family ties.
ReplyDeleteThat is just natural, Hels. I just happened to be there at the right time. It was a touching scene.
DeleteI just love kangaroos.
ReplyDeleteGreetings orvokki
I do too.
DeleteFascinating history! I love the idea of kangaroos and emus only moving forward—great life lesson. Your photo makes me wonder too—maybe they’re sharing some zoo gossip! 😊
ReplyDeleteYes a good lesson in life, Veronica. I'm sure they are talking gossip.
DeleteOn one hand, kangaroos look almost cute and cuddly. On the other hand, they terrify me as they are so strong and could kick your butt!
ReplyDeleteThey are very strong and I'm sure you have seen them in a fight.
DeleteWe have some that come to our front lawn but I've never seen them, the lady next door has them on you cam.
Querida amiga, son lindos los canguros.
ReplyDeletePienso que le esta dando un consejo de amigo a amigo, son adorables.
Abrazos y te dejo un besito, que tengas un feliz inicio de semana
Could be giving advice, I'm sure they talk to each other in a nice way.
DeleteBella captura de esos animales, tan propios de Australia.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I was lucky to be there at the right time.
DeleteAustralia has some fascinating creatures!
ReplyDeleteIt sure does.
DeleteGreat photo. What an interesting tidbit.. I had not idea about their inability to go backwards.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I presume many people didn't know that they can't go backwards.
DeleteThat's an adorable picture of the Kangaroos and what very interesting animals they are and never knew they, like the emu, could not walk backwards. I always get into trouble when I do that, so I don't do that anymore. Thank you for the incredible history of their origins also Margaret. It's been a real treat to read this as I love kangaroos. I haven't seen one even at a zoo in a very long time. I also love your new header of all the mailboxes. Happy week to you!
ReplyDeleteThank you Denise. One day you might get to see a kangaroo up close and personal.
DeleteOh! I didn't know that they can't go back, You're right, a person should also not look back and move forward in learning, development, and their dreams. And kangaroos, maybe they are just self-absorbed, out of sympathy for their company :)
ReplyDeleteWe will never know what the two kangaroos are doing in this photo, but it's also good for us to imagine what they are talking about or doing.
