Lake Trevallyn

The Trevallyn Lake is part of the South Esk River here in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.

It's a good place for rowing, kayaking,  and fishing so I believe.

Lake Godon, Tasmania.

After viewing  Lake Pedder in March 2020 we headed around to the Gorden Dam in this remote area of in the South West of Tasmania.  It was raining as one expects it to there.  We last visited in 2014.

A little information on Lake Gordon.

Lake Gordon is a reservoir created by the Gordon Dam on the upper reaches of the Gordon River in south-west Tasmania, Australia. The reservoir was formed in the early 1970s as a result of the dam construction by the HEC. (Hydro Electric Commission) It was the largest and most controversial hydro-electric power scheme in Tasmania.

Lake Gordon has a surface area of 272 km² (105 sq mi), with storage capacity of 12.5 km³ (3.0 cu mi) of water, the equivalent of twenty-five times the amount of water in Port Jackson. (Sydney Harbour).
Lake Pedder is connected to Lake Gordon through the McPartlans Pass Canal.

There are 196 steps down to side of the hill to be able to walk across the dam which is wider than it looks, we didn't do it this time due to rain, but don't think I could do it now I'm older.

Water Park, Goondiwindi

The National Heritage and Water Park in Goondiwindi was opened in 2004 and offers plenty of activities for all ages.  The purpose built 3km water channel provides great opportunities for water sports of all kinds including waterskiing, wakeboarding, canoeing and boating.  It's also the perfect place to view the vast bird life, have a picnic on the lawn or swim at the 'designated' area.

When there last year the water was very low and didn't look good - don't think I would like to swim in that water.  There were change rooms and toilets plus seating undercover.

Jerilderie, NSW and the Black Swan also Deniliquin, NSW

Jerilderie is a country town of just over 1,000 people, it's an irrigated farming centre, and the area produces a quarter of all tomatoes grown in Australia.  Rice is grown, wheat, canola, mung, soybeans, onions, liquorice, grapes - sheep and cattle farms.

The windmill below is a steel framed one with fan which turns to the wind between a bearing at the bottom and a swivel at the top, all supported by guy-wires.  The fully restored windmill, there are only two known working examples in the world, are unique because their fan is contained and spins within the fully pivoting frame. Produced by the Steel Wings Company in North Sydney between 1907 and 1911 with only six models ever erected.
Jerilderie windmill stands 17 meters (56 ft) high with a 9-metre (30 ft) fan.

To Nagambie, Victoria

Called into Nagambie, Victoria to a bakery bought some very tasty Vanilla Slices for breakfast along with a few other things to eat.

There was a bus load of 'older Australians' who had come to visit the monument to Black Caviar.

Black Caviar is a retired Australian Thoroughbred racehorse undefeated in 25 races, including 15 Group One victories, eclipsing the previous mark set by Kingston Town. She was named WTRR World Champion Sprinter in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.
Black Caviar was born in Nagambie in 2006 in the State of Victoria, Australia.

Was a bleak winters windy morning. The lake is used for rowing.

Lake Dulverton, Oatlands, Tasmania.

Lake Dulverton is a large shallow lake/lagoon associated with the town of Oatlands in Southern Midlands of Tasmania. The lake has an uneven shoreline with many low sandstone cliffs and overhangs.

The only island in the lake, Mary's Island, is a small sandstone rock roughly 80 m long with nothing more than a few cedars growing on it. The lake dried up in 1993 and remained dry for years until heavy rains in August, 2010, filled the lake to near full supply level. During this dry period, 2 levees were built across the lake dividing it into 3 sections. Only the smallest section near the Callington Mill was able to remain full.

Often we stop at Oatlands which is now off the Highway when coming home from Hobart.  I have an Auntie who lives in this Historic Town, she is 95 and in fairly good health, she if rather deaf, which leads me to tell this.

Last year my husband and I called on our way home from Hobart, rang her doorbell many times with no answer.  We could see her inside through the blinds watching and listening to a very loud TV. So  phoned her from my mobile and she heard the ring, picked up the phone and said 'Hello', of course I told her I was at her door...she couldn't stop laughing. So each time we call, I phone her first so then she has the door open to welcome us in.

Photos of a Sunday drive.

It's always nice to go for a drive on a Sunday especially after a frost because it's usually a beautiful day.
We went today and I took my new DSLR with me for a practice run.... I took 117 photos and was in my glee!
