Water Park, Goondiwindi

The National Heritage and Water Park in Goondiwindi was opened in 2004 and offers plenty of activities for all ages.  The purpose built 3km water channel provides great opportunities for water sports of all kinds including waterskiing, wakeboarding, canoeing and boating.  It's also the perfect place to view the vast bird life, have a picnic on the lawn or swim at the 'designated' area.
Taken from the Queensland Government web sight.

When there last year the water was very low and didn't look good - don't think I would like to swim in that water.  There were change rooms and toilets plus seating undercover.
The photos show various parts of the water park as we walked around.

The Race Horse.

The most famous resident of Goondiwindi was Gunsynd, a Thoroughbred race horse known as 'The Goondiwindi Grey. In the late 1960's and early 1970's, Gunsynd had 29 wins, came third in the 1972 Melbourne Cup.
The statue of the Jockey and Gunsynd are down near the Bridge which is the border between Queensland and New South Wales (NSW).

Goondiwindi, Queensland

Goodiwindi, Queensland has a population of about over 6,600 people.
The Mackintyre River being border between New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland.
The town has flooded in the past when there was a lot of rain.
Tree of knowledge: The old Carbeen Tree, situated inside the Memorial to the Levee could tell many a tale.  It is a meeting place for the town when the river is in flood but many years ago it was used as a notice board.

Goondiwindi is the hub for agriculture producing a diverse range of crops and fibres including wool and beef, cotton, sorghum, corn, wheat, barley and chickpeas.

Goondiwindi, Q'land

Always we stay at the same Motel in Goondiwindi, clean rooms, good bed and great bathroom with a good stream of clean lovely water :)  We usually eat in our room, a nice big porterhouse steak or T-bone with either salad + chips or vegies.  Goondiwindi is our first stop and nights sleep we have after leaving the Sunshine Coast.  It's about 350kms south west of Brisbane and the MacIntyre River is the border I presume, because over the river you are in the State of New South Wales.

The Victoria Hotel in the middle of the main street.

The main street - note how clean it looks, all towns we travel through are usually like this.

Of course the Town Clock.
