The Punchbowl, Launceston, Tasmania.

The Punchbowl Reserve is a good place to have a picnic or a walk around the pond, have a game of cricket in the summer or football in winter, or just run around.  There is a playground for children as well.

The Turbo Chook or Tasmanian Native Hens are good swimmers' fast runners with strong legs therefore some people call them 'turbo chooks'. The chooks can run up to 50km hour are plentiful near marshes, rivers and so on. The Native Hen is protected, and they don't fly.

Punchbowl Reserve, Launceston, Tasmania

Punchbowl Reserve not far from home and where we had many family picnics once.  The Reserve has been around for many a year, once looked after by volunteers, now the City Council. There are barbecues, Toilets, seats and tables, ducks, Turbo Chooks (Native Hens) playground, a big area of green grass to play cricket, or run along.  The walking paths are picturesque in the area. 

These photos were taken on one my visits with two of the grandchildren a few years back.

That's a Tasmanian Native Hen, they roam around in the Reserve and seem to be plentiful.

A touch of Autumn in May.

The Punchbowl Reserve is not very far from home about 10 minutes.  It's a good place to take the children so they can run around look at the ducks and native hens.
Went there earlier this month to see how the autumn colour were progressing so several photos were taken.

The first photo it part of the carpark, then the next one is when you get inside the gate, you see picnic tables, the next photo is the barbecued area and the pond.

The Punchbowl is just a few klm from home.  It's a great area for family picnics, with gas barbecues, swings and things for the children, along with a big pond and a large grassed area for cricket and football, even soccer, table and chairs to sit on.

Took one of the grandchildren there this week and these are some of the things we saw.
