The photos were taken in various places within Australia.

Bischoff Hotel at Waratah, North Western Tasmania.
It often snows here in winter.

Ross, Tasmania

Ross is such a gorgeous town in my book, it has a lot of history attached to it, was settled in 1821.
Ross developed as a base for the local garrison and became a centre for trade for the surrounding district.
The town is on the Midland Highway on the way to Hobart in Tasmania. The highway these days goes around the town of Ross but we often call into the town for a look and rest.
We were there last Easter and it's when I took these photos.

Carnarvon, Western Australia

Recently a little girl aged 4 went missing from her Mother's and Stepfather's tent whilst on a camping trip up near the blowhole near Carnarvon.  The little girls name was Cleo and Cleo was taken from the tent during the night, the zip on the tent was found open in the morning time - no one in the tent heard!
A large Police search began for Cleo by the sea, inland and all around with 100's looking for precious Cleo.  Days and nights went by, people chattered making up stories, yes, rumours were rife.
Nothing was mentioned about her biological Dad till many days later so one wonders why he wasn't mentioned before.
Anyway finally one night 18 days after Cleo was taken she was found about 1.30am in the morning locked in a house not far from the Police Station and where she lived with her mother and stepdad and her brother.
Cleo was looking good, spent a short time in hospital to be checked out and she was ok.  What happened to her psychologically I don't know as yet.
So who took Cleo?
A 'First Nation Person' a 36 year old who apparently liked dolls and has a room in his house containing many dolls, he also is a loner. He's now in jail being questioned and eventually there will be a trial.
What a relief that Cleo was found after 18 days physically unharmed.  A Policeman asked her her name when she was rescued and she said "my name is Cleo".

We visited Carnarvon in Western Australia (WA) in 2015 and stayed there for a night from memory.
When the abduction happened of Cleo I had to look up my photos to see what the town was like which I'm sharing with you. There will a few post in this area which is a very long way from home.  These photos haven't been shown before on my blog.

Darwin, NT

Darwin in the Northern Territory (NT) down by the sea in the tropics of Australia.

The first photo is of the War Memorial.  2nd is of the Wharf in the distance with the flower Bougainvillea in the foreground. 3rd is of Government House and the 4th of the garden outside the fence. Government House in Darwin was built to let the sea breeze flow through with a lot of shutters seen on the ground floor.

The trees above around a Government building, then canoes and a lot of yachts, on our last visit to this area in Darwin not so many plus the eating houses were no more, just one or two shops were open, totally different .

The photo is of one of the beach areas looking towards Beagle Gulf/Timor Sea.

Darwin, NT

Darwin the the Capital of the Northern Territory (NT). The population is about 82,000 people. Darwin is in the Tropics of Australia, it's hot and humid in Summer and not too bad in Winer but still humid and hot. There are several beaches and one must be careful of the Saltwater Crocodiles if you see any. We never have in the area.
We have been 3 times to Darwin seeing it change over the years and of course we travelled with the caravan behind us first and second time with our other caravan and vehicle.  The distance is on the map below from home to Darwin via the road.  There isn't a great deal to see along the way, a few towns and off the road camping in peoples paddocks is very handy with a few dollars given to the owner, no water or power.   The terrian is flat, some of it desert with the road usually very straight.

The first photo is of the Mall, or more like it just part of it.

Second photo is what was left of a building after Cyclone Tracy which arrived in Darwin at Christmas time in 1974, it just flattened Darwin and the noise of the Cyclone can be heard at the museum, just a dreadful noise as we went there and listened.

Third photo is of a Public building, the fourth one can't recall what it houses but I believe it survived the Cyclone even though it's near to the sea.

The remainder of the photos are of the caravan park, the palms, the fruit bats come to eat those in the evening and one has to make sure the vehicle is not parked underneath those trees as their 'business' stains the vehicles right through the paint.

Onwards to Derwent Bridge

Continuing on holiday in March 2020 we were headed to Queenstown, on the way we stopped for a short rest and walk around after going around bends, plenty of them with beautiful views.

The first photo is of a barbecue area by a river, then onto Derwent Bridge a very small town with a Hotel and some artwork done in wood which we visited the time before (no photos permitted there), a petrol bowser along with a restaurant where we had lunch with Cabins next door as in photo of one of them.
Continuing we stopped again to have a good look at the view, the last of these photos you can see the Frenchmans Cap which is the 3rd highest mountain in Tasmania at 1,446 meters above sea level.

New Norfolk, Tasmania.

Spent a few nights in Cambridge near the Hobart Airport where we visited some of my cousins which took longer than we thought, but how wonderful to have a good catch up.  Having no brothers or sisters some of these cousins are like brothers and sisters to me 😀😀
All this took place before Covid-19.

After Cambridge we went to New Norfolk spending over a week there.  I lived in New Norfolk for 4 years when my later father was a Policeman.  The town is where I started my schooling at St. Brigid's School, taught by Nuns, some of them were Irish. When I was 3 years old the nuns used to look after me whilst my parents worked. On their days off my parents looked after me, plus my father was on shift work.  There is more about me and my life at New Norfolk here.  Also there is a photo in HDR of the house I lived in.

The Police Station below photo, well that wasn't there but from memory there was a house that was the Police Station, then the below one was built, now I understand that a new one is going to be built.

Have never stayed in New Norfolk since leaving until this March, so that is many years.

The photo above is now a restaurant once was something to do with the English Church and below is the English Church.

There is a green park or square in New Norfolk opposite the above restaurant and English Church.

Found a new map other than google maps online.  We were in Cambridge and went to New Norfolk but followed the 'red' line, it wasn't a long way and we arrived about lunch time.
