Halloween

Halloween display at the Supermarket down the road.  It's only a small display as Halloween is not done as it's done in the USA and some other countries.  When I was younger we didn't even know about Halloween.

A little about the beginning of Halloween.

The Halloween has it's roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, a pagan religious celebration to welcome the harvest at the end of summer, when poeple would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward of ghosts.

Signs

A few Signs coming through Mowbray a suburb of Launceston on the northern side. Continuing with signs near home the southern side.  All of these photos of signs were taken with my phone and whilst moving.

This building is something to do with some kind of Care for Children, can't recall exactly.

We only have two Hungry Jacks in Launceston.  KFC we only have two as well.

These signs are on a shop or in - the above is in Rivers a clothing shop. All these signs are not far from  home.

McDonald's is known as Maccas here in Australia.

BWS is a liquor store, Beer, Wine and Spirits and is owned by the Endeavour Group.  In 2019, Woothworths the supermarket people here in Australia, (nothing to do with USA or UK) restructured it's alcoholic drinks business to form Endeavour Group.  In June 2021, the Endeavour Group was listed as separate entity on the Australian Securities Exchange.  In Australia alcohol is not permitted to be sold at the supermarkets, any of them.

Up the top of the hill to the left is home.

Windermere view

A view from Windermere down the Tamar River.  We have the East Tamar and the West Tamar, Windermere is on the eastern side so the photos are looking to the western side and down the river towards Launceston, Tasmania.

I like both photos, very similar.

Looking across to Rosevears Hotel and the rooms that look over the Tamar River.

The Local Supermarket

The Local Supermarket Woolworths (nothing to do with the USA one) which is owned by Woolworths Group Limited now Group was founded in 1924 and is an  Australian multinational retail and finance company, primarily known for its operation or retail chain Woolworths Supermarkets across Australia and Woolworths in New Zealand, as well department stores of various kinds.

Recently and still on going in some areas of our local supermarket upgrades have been done, new everything and it's looking good.  Took these photos last week and the new look. I choose to take photos when people moved away from the camera and being around lunch time it wasn't very busy.
All stores of Wollies as we call them will be upgraded eventually and the Kings Meadows store is the first one to be done in Australia!

Waiting to go through the checkout.

Self service checkouts.

Small area of the carpark and Sails will be put on top of the frames for shade.

Frames

As I've mentioned before I used to do a lot of fiddling on the computer and below are some of my fiddles with photos of scenery I took back a few years ago.  These are scenes in Tasmania, Australia.

The above was at Mt. Field NP.
Below is Russell Falls also at Mt. Field NP.

Bush fires 2 years prior and the vegetation had grown somewhat when I took the photo. A scene at Scamander on the East Coast of Tasmania, Australia.

Meander River, Deloraine.

This suspension walking bridge is at Deloraine and was built in 1898 but obviously updated since then. This the Meander River which used to flood in areas of it but it's been a long time since that happened.

The building was built in 1907, it housed two turbine, a 19 H.P. Gunter and a 45" Samson.  The concrete weir across the river, and a diverting channel under a portion of the building, were all part of the complex.

The Wattle is still out and photos taken from the suspension bridge.

Tulip Time

It's Tulip time again being Spring.  These tulips are grown down the North West Coast on a farm at Tablecape just near Wynyard.  The Farm is open from September 23, to October 22, or longer depends on how the tulips are blooming. There is a fee to enter this working farm to view the tulips.
