Sydney NSW

Youngest son J and his partner went to Sydney last year.  They took a cruise along the river and took these photos of the Sydney Opera House in Sydney, NSW, Australia.

This tunnel below was built between 1913 - 1936 to carry submarine electricity cables for the electric tramway system on the north side of the harbour as submarine cables laid across the bed of the harbour had suffered damage from ships and their anchors.
The tunnel became flooded in 1930 and remained in use until 1969. If interested, you can read more [ here ]  I left the tunnel as it was because it looks spooky.

It's Autumn

The autumn leaves at Hollybank Nature Reserve not far from Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.  I've shown photos before of this area but not these photos only the last one a few years back.  This area is a picnic area and there are many walks to take in the bush.

The bush

I've just had a birthday, yes, I'm a Taurus and next year will be a big birthday number, I'm planning on making it! 🤣🤣

Many, many moons ago my husband, my father, cousin and his then girlfriend whom he ended up marrying went to cut and collect wood for my parents.  I was about 20 years old as was my husband.
We took some food and a little barbecue to cook the sausages on.  We had the time of our lives.
My father decided it was time I learnt how to use a gun, so I did.  You see my father was a Policeman till he retired at 65 years of age. He lived till he was 90 and went totally blind long before he died.
These photos are from slides.
Guns are banned in Australia, exceptions are farmers, gun clubs, police and a few others.

Along a bush road

Was someone's home ages ago, certainly still used for a few things by the look of it.  A few photos of scenes as we drove along.

The Isis River, (I'd call it a creek) well my gggrandfather his wife and a few of his children lived on a farm along that river, they came as free settlers from Ireland for a better life and they grew potatoes, later on they moved to the midland of Tasmania and of course had more children.

Graves of old all together of one particular family.

Irrigating because there hasn't been hardly any rain.

Eldest

The eldest son R, his wife K and two children our grandchildren now 12 is E, 10 is Z.  Here they are off to Queensland for a holiday staying in Brisbane, then the Sunshine Coast, then down to the Gold Coast all in Queensland.  This photos was taken at the Launceston Airport at Evandale recently.

Since their return back home my husband and I decided to change the front garden, so son and a couple of his staff members pulled the old garden out and planted a new one.
This son pictured owns his own business and is a Landscape Gardener employing up to 10 people.

The new garden bed out the front with a border of dwarf Nandina's.
Son R is also a Soccer Coach of two junior football teams both winning their matches on May 4, 2024.

Mt. Barrow continued

Today is our Wedding Anniversary, next year will be the big one and not that many couples get to the big one, let's hope we do next year.

Mt. Barrow continued - at the top it's flat with a workman's hut or whatever it's called but no one lives there. The 2nd and 3rd photos are looking towards the other TV tower/s plus a road the workers drive on to the towers but the public and not permitted. The remainder is the beginning of the descent.
If you click on the Location text at the end of this post it will take you to the map of Mt. Barrow.
