The first picture greets you at the entrance, the second is of course the ticket box. The theatre is surround by sugar cane.
I'm sure this Sin-bin as we call them is not used and must be there for decoration, I certainly could be wrong.
Below the screen.
Sugar can growing as taken from the window as we drove along another area of Ayr.
We went to a drive-in a few times when the children were smaller and when drive-ins were popular here.
ReplyDeleteI saw a sugarcane field once. In Brazil.
Such fun were those drive-ins, I remember well.
DeleteInteresting is sugarcan when not used to seeing, hearing about.
Many people who went to drive-in movies didn't go there to watch the movie!
ReplyDeleteOh gymnastics in the back seat???
DeleteColin
That's so true David, just a peek at the movie once in awhile..lo
DeleteNow Colin! Were you that gymnast?
My lips are sealed Margaret!
DeleteHowever it may (????) have had something to do with my back problems - ha ha!
Colin
Hello Margaret,
ReplyDeleteThat looks very quiet in that drive in theatre. It looks very nice on that location with the only car.
Greetings, Marco
Very quiet there when we visited...apparently according to the sign the drive-in is on Friday and Saturday only..
DeleteI remember drive ins. Nice to know they still exist.
ReplyDeleteI believe there are one or two left in Australia..which is good, always enjoyed the drive-in.
DeleteTão engraçado.
ReplyDeleteNunca tinha visto.
Nem sabia que existia.
Obrigada por ter deixado um miminho no meu cantinho.
Beijinho.

I remember going to the drive-in when young, come hail or rain and of course we watched the movies when it got dark enough.
DeleteI've never watched a movie in a drive in theater, not sure if I'd like it.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts too, but I'd like to try it one day.
DeleteYou have really missed something then as it was common practice for us to go to the drive-in, it was always packed any night of the week.
DeleteThe speaker sat on the side of the window with a hook attached so hence the speaker was inside. If it rain you just turned the windscreen wipers on.
We used to take a rug in winter a hot water bottle and our own thermos of tea/coffee and something to eat. One could go to the theatre restaurant and eat or buy, there were toilets a plenty - a good night out. We didn't know anything else.
We used to have a drive-in theater in our town when I was a child and it was so much fun to go. We would bring a big brown bag of popcorn and my sister and I would usually fall asleep in the back seat before the movie was over. Sweet memories. In the U.S. there are very few left.
ReplyDeleteOh Cynthia, such sweet wonderful memories of the drive-in.
DeleteSame here, not many left at all.
No need for a fence with it lined by sugar cane.
ReplyDeleteI believe you can't get through the sugarcane Andrew..that's been taken care of.
DeleteYour post just reminded me, Margaret...re Ayr still having a drive-in. I'd forgotten about that...not thought of it for some time.
ReplyDeleteBoy! It's a long, long time since I've been to a drive-in. The last time was to one at the drive-in at Jindalee, a western suburb of Brisbane - in 1976. And we saw...the Elliott Gould comedy movie "Whiffs"!!!
Good grief Lee, you can remember what you saw last at the drive-in and what year, wow I wouldn't have a clue to when I last went.. Was great fun the drive-in.
DeleteHaven't been to the drive in many years my daughter takes Leo often, the drive in is a 30 minute drive from here
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful you still have a drive-in near you and for Leo to experience..
DeleteHaven't experienced a drive-in movie. Its been a long time since I was a movie.
ReplyDeleteSome countries have have or have had drive-in's and others not so.
DeleteAyr is such a wonderful town and the drive-in too would be great there. It's a long time since I went to a drive-in, when the children were young I think, but they were fun at any age! There are still a couple here I think but I would probably go to sleep now!
ReplyDeleteDrive-ins are or were always fun as you say.
DeleteNo he ido nunca a un autocine, por aquí no suele haber. Besitos.
ReplyDeleteCountries have different things.
DeleteSo long ago since I've seen a drive in they once were a Friday night thing,
ReplyDeleteMerle..........
Yes always Friday or Saturday night, even Sunday Merle.
Deletelovely images dear Margaret
ReplyDeletesky in third pic is poetic :)
can't imagine theater n sugarcane field how amazing!
Different having a drive-in with canefields around.
DeleteWhat an interesting place.
ReplyDeleteI never went to a drive-in.
Huge fields of sugar can.
Higs
A lot of cane growing in that area.
DeleteInteresting! We do not have drive-ins here in Finland.
ReplyDeleteOh I can understand that, not having them - you need warm fine weather for a drive-in..a bit of rain doesn't hurt.
DeleteHere, we don't any drive-in movies, to much rain.
ReplyDeleteFair enough.
DeleteWe don't have many drive in movies in here, but interesting idea!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea for those places that are warm at night and have a long summer.
