There are several photos of the Sunshine Coast on this blog from the past, the visit last year didn't take many photos at all of the area.
The tunnel photos are on the highway south to Ballina. Some have lights in them and some don't.
Last photo is of the most Eastern Point in Australia!
This lighthouse at Byron Bay is situated near the most Eastern area of Australia.
The people come to take a short walk to that area, of course it cost money to do so, the parking is dreadful and lucky if you get a park at all.
I remember going here when there wasn't a fee, wasn't a really popular place like now.
Byron Bay was a Hippy Town way back and it's grown somewhat over the years. We drove from Ballina to Byron Bay a short distance for a quick visit.

DeleteThe lighthouse is pretty but looks crowded. As a kid, I was afraid to ride thru those tunnels!

DeleteI know of many adults who won't go through tunnels, I will it doesn't bother me, have been through many longer ones in Australia.
Popularity costs money!! It happens all over the world.

ReplyDeleteWe were rather surprised at the amount of cars hence people trying to find somewhere to park - impossible really. So different from years ago there.
DeleteThe first photo is where I took youngest sons Wedding photos on the Sunshine Coast. They live in Tasmania now.
I don't do tunnels well.

Crowds at Byron Bay certainly brings cars, buses and so on.

Last visit to Byron Bay I wondered when some of the inhabitants last had a bath or shower...........I doubt whether some of them venture anywhere near the surf.

'Tis lovely on the Sunshine Coast, Surfers lost it's appeal, Byron Bay don't care for at all, great beach there though you should have seen the line of cars to the beach, miles longs!

ReplyDeleteIt was once but I suppose it still is for the younger people. Lots of road works going on when we were there and about time by the feel and look of those roads.

ReplyDeleteByron Bay could see to make money by people going to the most Easter Point of Australia - advertise it more, and charge a fee - so people can say, 'oh, we have been to that place, :)
