Things one sees south of Sydney in Winter 2016.
South of west Sydney we saw the above then the car below, didn't see the accident was rather amused at seeing this man driving along the off road - highway.
Kiama light house on a hill over looking the sea.
Kiama is a township 120 kilometres south of Sydney in the Illawarra, New South Wales, Australia in the Municipality of Kiama. At the 2011 census, Kiama had a population of 12,817 people. One of the main tourist attractions is the Kiama Blowhole
The view to the left of the blowhole below
Something different, indeed!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting shots. I will try to learn more about that sea cave on google.
Why was I so concerned about a 25 to 30 hour flight from here to Australia? I can now travel with you using my computer or my tablet! No jet lag and it is free!! :)
Thanks!
Yes with me certainly no jet lag :) and thank you.
Deleteahhhhhhhhhhhh back to the deep blue sea.
ReplyDeleteI was scratching my head when I read 'blowhole'...thankfully I only had to it pgdwn once. *big smile*
:)
DeleteYes more sea!
Lol
Certainly different things to see!
ReplyDeleteLove your photo's of the lighthouse and the blowhole.
All the best Jan
Thanks Jan.
DeleteWonderful things you saw. The blowhole is something I've never seen. It looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteSo you don't have blowholes up your way - it's good that you could see the photo of the one I took then :)
DeleteYes... we don't have them in Finland. I would love to see more photos of them.
DeleteThe blow-hole reminds me of when I saw a whale do something similar.
ReplyDeleteIt does and maybe that's how a blowhole got it's name.
DeleteBeautiful spectacle for the view, those jets of water which reach a great height.
ReplyDeleteKisses
Being interesting to know how high the highest one has been so far.
DeleteMargaret wonderful photos .. Love
ReplyDeleteThanks Gosia
DeleteYou have quite a collection of diverse photos here! Love the lighthouse & those blue seas.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Winter skies look good here in this part of the world.
DeleteThe blowhole has claimed more than a few unwary lives too. It is lovely to see - as is the lighthouse.
ReplyDeleteI expect many over the years have fallen on the rocks there, the force of the water would be great in a storm.
DeleteBloody great photos, I would love to see the lighthouse in person
ReplyDeleteThe lighthouse stand very tall Jo-Anne and is rather magnificent with the sea behind it and in the foreground the green grass.
DeleteThere are some similar things in the igneous outcroppings along the Oregon coast. This one is amazing. Also love the lighthouse.
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of blowholes here in Tasmania too - I think in many places in this world we would find many. At least you know where some are.
DeleteWonders seen by one whose lens makes things more wonderful. I'm impressed
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin :)
DeleteI'd love to be there for such an exciting wonder of nature.
ReplyDeleteIt's a wonder being there, wondering when the spout of water is going to come up :)
DeleteOh yes, I remember visiting that blowhole when I was young.
ReplyDeleteBet it's awesome when the sea is rough.
DeleteYep - "The Kiama Blow Hole" - sure is some sight to see.
ReplyDeleteI think the naval helicopter has something to do with the naval training
base that is situated in that area - HMAS Crewell at Jervis Bay further south.
Officer training in the navy is done there and then graduates can further
their military training at ADFA (Duntroon, Canberra Defense College.
An interesting part of Australia down Kiama way.
Good photos.
Colin
You are correct Colin - base near by apparently.
DeleteThanks.
I didn't know about the blowhole. That would be interesting to see in person.
ReplyDeleteIt's a rather pretty spot there River - often blowholes about we don't know about.
DeleteSometimes it is hard to see a blowhole working. You did well. You must have been getting close to home. You will just finish posting holiday photos and you will be away again.
ReplyDeleteStood for awhile to get that blowhole photo Andrew.
DeleteI doubt if I will finish last years holiday before we leave but yes, closer to home at that point.
That blowhole is quite spectacular. It's always interesting to discover natural phenomena like this.
ReplyDeleteIT is always, it would have been a better effect if one could get lower to show the height better of the water coming up.
DeleteOh my! Both of those sights are a bit unusual. Poor car. Is the helicopter actually on the pole or just flying in front of it?
ReplyDeleteWhere's the whale that's shooting up all that water? Just kidding.
That blowhole is quite amazing.
YOU, have a great one.
Helicopter is on a pole Sandra :)
DeleteHa! I get you on the blowhole :)
Stood there for ages to get that photo of water sprouting up.
Olá, as fotos são excelentes, a da agua a sair da rocha é espectacular, foi um belo momento fotografico.
ReplyDeleteFeliz semana,
AG
Something different to see the blowhole, not every place has one.
DeleteThank you.
Some amazing and amusing photos, great views too.
ReplyDeleteAll thebest, Gordon.
