The Journey

We set sail for Melbourne, Victoria at 7.30pm, the other evening. The crossing took 10 & 1/2 hours. Was a reasonably smooth one, lucky we both slept rather well.
We had a cabin with an ensuite which was lovely and clean.
The call via the intercom in our cabin to arise from the bed was 5.50am, to be down below in the vehicle at 6.30am.  As soon as we were seated the vehicle in front drove off and so did we, no waiting.  There was just a little daylight.  This was excellent as we were able to get well up the highway before the heavy Melbourne traffic began.

The photo is of part of the dinning room on the Spirit of Tasmania.






Photos were taken with my phone.  I'm blogging using my iPad so I hope it's ok.

    The blog post came out perfectly using your i-Pad. I must try it sometime. Glad to see you enjoying a glass of wine with your dinner on the crossing! For a long crossing such as that you definitely need a cabin. I'm sure that crossing can be rough so lucky it was pretty smooth for you.

      Doesn't look too bad, i was happy with the result i use an app called Blogger, it's a google one. This time it worked!
      There are day sailings at certain times if the year but never done that. It gets very rough that stretch of sea, it's not very deep.
      lovely Tasmanian wine, my husband doesn't drink very often, he's mainly a tea totaller.

      So far i have had the internet all the way, and being in the country places and the caravan we can go as fast or slow as they law states, no rush. No tours but lots to see.
      My phone takes a nice photo.

    That is pretty good cruising speed for the cross strait ferry - 10 1/2 hours is good travelling.
    The ferry people sure expect you to move fast from bed to vehicle.

    Safe travelling in which is not obviously "Shank's pony" - ha ha!

      Not too bad Colin much quicker than the older feŕry of yesteryear.
      One is supposed to eat breakfast after being woken up & in the dinning room!

      Shank's pony, oh gosh! Do hope he goes the correct way!

      Not a bad drop is Jacobs Creek. It's the only small bottle of wine in the Captain's Table dinning room. It's help yourself to drinks and food. There is another dinning room which is on the other side of the ship.
