I was amused at the Driver of the Ferry across the Murray River in SA at a place called Morgan. As he steers the ferry he reads his phone, the photo was captured looking through the windscreen of the vehicle. The other photo of a bird was taken on the Murray way down the road at Renmark in SA.
We are heading North.
We are heading North.
Later this week I'm going to post a few maps with the distance and where we intend to go.
Sounds like a lovely day trip!
ReplyDeleteGwen,
DeleteIt's more than a day trip, many days from home actually.
The driver should more careful I think. The ferry it is not very big
ReplyDeleteYes he shoul Gosia. Not very far across the river at all.
DeleteIs that allowed, to text or read, while piloting a ferry? Not here, I don't think. Famous photos of bus drivers caught texting while driving get them on fast track to the unemployment line.
ReplyDeleteI should think it would not be permitted, Strayer...even though it was a very short distance he got us across the river safely.
DeleteIt is a good job that we car drivers don't do that - no doubt the traffic on the Murray River is very light.
ReplyDeleteYou are so correct on that Rosemary. It's illegal to text or read a phone here. Not much traffic at all at that particular place on the Murray River.
DeleteI am glad , that you continue to enjoy , so beautiful trip.
ReplyDeleteKisses
Having a wonderful time thank you..
DeleteI am sure the ferry driver was probably through a new fangled device checking depths
ReplyDeleteor current flows.
The Murray River is hardly a water highway! As for motorists being so good and not using
mobile phones etc - some people must be blind.
Burra already ??????????????????? Good God, "Shanks Pony" is really fired up and chafing at
the bit!
Burra is bloody cold in winter - those Southern Ocean blasts! But it is an interesting historical town
with the river bed sights of the miners dwellings. I hope you were able to go on the heritage trail tour.
Living in tree trunks and river burrows certainly took some fortitude for the early mining settlement.
I think "Shanks pony" might need a rest??? Or are the spurs of "Lead Foot" just over anxious?
Cheers
Colin
Goodness knows what he was doing on his phone, one will never know.
DeleteWas -1 degC at Burra this morning.
Shank's pony did an excellent job in Burra yesterday!
Is that a cormorant I see? Let's hope the phone was helping the pilot to navigate and not his wife texting him to pick up some milk on the way home from work!
ReplyDeleteYes it is Cynthia. Could have been texting his wife or girlfriend but he knew what he was doing..
DeleteI suspect the ferry driver has made this trip many, many times before. And that rush hour is two other watercraft.
ReplyDeleteLove the water (and bird) shot.
Thanks re bird shot :). I was lucky it stayed still.
DeleteHe seemed to be a bit busy, as soon as he got to one side he was back with a few cars to the other..
He must have made the trip so many times that he can do it without looking but hope he doesn't spend the whole time playing with his phone when he should be concentrating on his job
ReplyDeleteI reckon he could go across that river in his sleep..and yes, he should be concentrating on his job.
DeleteI learned recently that just about every little country town in South Australia has a street called Murray! I grew up on a Murray Street too in NSW.
ReplyDeleteYou are probably correct on that. The above is the Murray River...
DeleteI love the Cormorant!
ReplyDeleteSitting there patiently.
DeleteIs it safe to assume that there was no oncoming river traffic to look out for?
ReplyDeleteThere was no on coming traffic on yhe river...he would not look at his phone if there was..
DeleteYou're in my state! A bit too far North to be dropping in for coffee though.
ReplyDeleteOh really, I had no idea! I like your State :)
DeleteGreat photo. Best wishes!
ReplyDeleteThank you
ReplyDeleteThe techno ferryman. Will be good to see where you go on a map.Are you enjoying the new van. Does it have heating?
ReplyDeleteThe map goes up very soon.....yes we are enjoying the van thanks Diane. Yes we have heating in two forms, fan heater plus Reverse cycle A/C...
DeleteI love the reflections in your photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda.
