A Drive on Sunday

Beautiful winters day last Sunday with the temperature being 15 deg C.  We went for a drive to Legana a growing suburb 12 km from Launceston.  There were several orchards in the area but of course some of the land was sold.   There are still apple and cherry orchids plus other fruit trees.  I took photos of the older area including an apple orchid. There is Tavern, Supermarket, Post Office, and a few other shops there so you don't have to come into the city to buy food.

The dotted area is Legana.

    1. No 3 picture is a great view, I agree, it's always good to have a hill, green grass and tree or two and of course water in a scene.

    1. We enjoyed it EC. Gosh, 6 deg C is a bit chilly and as far as I can recall we have stayed much warmer in the daytime, but of course colder in the night.

  12. I don't think it looks like any farmland in Yankee-land or should I say
    "Divided land" - ha ha.
At least the the Canadians can breathe again - the idiot clown is back in
    the land of chaos!
Now the leaders in glorious Calgary can get down to business.
The "Calgary Stampede"" is something that if you can afford to see
in person - do so. But we have just as good ones here but nowhere as big.
Calgary and the mountains are very popular with the Aussie skiing
community but Japan and Kiwi-land are cheaper and closer with direct flights.
Ah the thrills and spills of the ski slopes - just now memories and sore butts
    from yesteryears !!!
Another fine and sunny day in Terrigal but cold at night. Only those with no feelings
    are in the FLAT surf.
    Cheers

    1. Well the photos could be taken anywhere in this world in my opinions in certain places Colin. We had snow on the mountain this morning I noticed from the window here at home, there is also a snow making machine up there too. I've never skied but have been ice skating.
When we used to holiday in northern NSW, Qld etc. always someone in the water in winter and mostly the sea was flat. Must give the swimmers and surfers a nice feeling in winter.

  14. I'm glad you still have so much glorious farming land producing crops. Where I am governments are selling it off for housing, instead of utilising other areas that have no other buildings and are not suitable for growing crops.

    1. Oh gosh, R. We still have plenty of land, and Legana where all the houses are built used to be orchids, so someone orchardist/s sold for housing. There is government land for housing as well.

  15. I would give my eye teeth for a cherry orchard. I bought cherries today and had to pawn my watch at the greengrocer to pay *moan*

    1. Oh dear me, Hels. Haven't seen any cherries down here for sale, the ones you purchased must be imported and a very late variety at that. Some fruits can be a little expensive these days.

  16. Absolutely gorgeous scenery and outstanding photos. I love looking at your maps too. I always see a few British names on them that I remember visiting in the UK years ago, like Bridgenorth. Thanks Margaret!
