Well I Never!

Have lived in this street for over 45 years and on Wednesday morning there was SNOW! First time EVER. Everyone is excited!
The backyard.

Walked closer

Next door neighbours manfern over our fence.

Daffodils are supposed to be somewhere up against the fence. There is a small pond somewhere there.

View just out the front door and neighbours front yard.

Above looking down the hill.  Yes, it's garbage day.

Looking to the right down the hill.

Looking to the left down the hill.

Home above.  The snow falling off some of the solar panels on the roof and on the otherside doing the same, there are heaps more panels.

Next door neighbours above.

Part of the garden, see one daffodil.

Above the maiden hair fern not touched by the snow.

Steps from the patio to the back door.
Below, the other side of the house.

    1. Morning David, it's 12.30am and I'm still up.
So much excitement there was from everyone that I saw. Saw snow on Mt. Arthur, Mt. Barrow and Ben Lomond as the clouds cleared, amazing the snow that is up there.
Well you are all used to snow :)
The sails above the vehicle were resting on the roof, it's a wonder those sails didn't pull away from where they are hinged. The view from inside towards the hills was amazing. We have a good view inside the house.

    1. Thanks Anita.
No Australia doesn't usually have snow other than in the high country, not in the tropics though.
It's most unusual for us to have had snow but we also get it in the highlands and on top of mountains most winters if it's cold enough.

  6. Hello Margaret,
That's very special to see snow now.
In the Netherlands it's very hot at this time with temperatures above 30 degrees.
Your photos are proof, very special and well done!!

    Greetings, Marco

We have a heatwave coming tomorrow.

  8. Wow! I can imagine what an exciting day that was for children. I’m imagining them all outside making snow balls, snow angels, and of course, having a taste! You have a lovely view of mountains from your home.

    1. Great excitement Cynthia. Grandchildren that live in the same area were out making snow persons :)
We are very fortunate to have a good view of the hills and mountains, the house next door does stop some of the view but what we have is enough as we can see..

  9. Wow.
It is a very long time since I have seen snow like that in my city. We get occasional dustings but real falls like that are rare. And exciting.
    Wonderful photos.
    Stay warm, stay safe.

    1. Very rare here, first time ever at our place was a good 2 inches.
Don't even remember a dusting of snow where we live.

  10. Magical to see. Not so magical to experience. Our friend in West Launceston lost power that morning. She was not happy. Kind neighbours with a gas stove brought her in Thermoses of hot water.

    1. Was magic and for me it wasn't cold, but that's me still in summer clothes with a cardigan on.
It's not good not having power, no heat if you don't have firewood and you can't boil the jug, lucky to have a nice neighbour. The power never went out here.

  11. My skiing days are well and truly over.
It does look magical but you may keep it down there.
The cold here is enough for me and with 4 pending days of rain
    that's cold enough for me.
Fantastic views of the countryside from your home.
    Cheers

  12. How wonderful to see snow at your house. We have never had snow here at our place but very rarely it has been on Mt Lofty but by the time we drive there it is gone!I hope your plants survive under the snow, not sure if it harms them, but I guess you will find out. Enjoy it while you can and I hope you are warm inside.

    1. We have been like you, seen a dusting of snow on the mountains taken off to see only to find it's gone when we get there :)
The snow won't harm out plants, frost will if it's too harsh but the plants we have are not frost tender except for the maiden hair fern but that's partly under cover.
Yes, I'm warm when the wind comes it's cold, cut you in half as they say :)

  14. Well--- you can always talk about the snow of 2020! At least it's not a pandemic or a government run by clowns. Fun pictures! And fun memories.

Snow is always a beautiful sight - white coverage of roads, roofs, mountains, trees and plants! Hope you've enjoyed the sight!
