We travelled along to Elliott Heads same day as it's not far to view the scenery and see what was there.
Elliott Heads is a coastal town just 17km south east of Bundaberg with just over 1,000 people. The river there was named after the first Speaker of the Queensland Parliament, Sir Charles Ellott.
The photo of the duck was taken not too far away and the train is a coal one we encountered on the way to Bundaberg.
The photos are of the area and that house has a great view of the Coral Sea.
In case you are interested your duck is a Pacific Black Duck. The head pattern is unmistakable and the dark green speculum shows well on this picture too. Well done.
ReplyDeleteAlways interested in the names of birds David.
DeleteThanks for the name, it's a beautiful duck, love that colour green.
I would love to see the sea again but that will to wait for another time, but when, I am not sure.
ReplyDeleteWe too are not permitted to go driving at the moment to see the sea.
DeleteYou will get to see the sea again, patience Rosemary. Might be winter your time.
Great photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandi.
DeleteLovely photos of Eliot Heads. We went inland from Bundaberg and stayed at Biggenden. Next trip we will have to go to Eliot Heads and I do love the coast. Take care.
DeleteThanks Rosie.
DeleteBeen through Biggenden.
This is a beautiful place to spend a few weeks.
ReplyDeleteThere is a caravan park and holiday places nearby, it looks a quiet place but probably no so much at the weekends.
DeleteWhat a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteWe though it was rather nice too Bill.
DeleteThat house is a classic Queenslander isn't it? I do love houses on stilts.
ReplyDeleteLove the duck - and the sea.
Thank you.
A modern version of the classic Queenslander EC. Usually the bottom of the older versions are not totally filled in and used for parking a car or bit of rubbish there. The top half much the same.
DeleteBeautiful duck.
You are welcome.
Besos
The duck was friendly and there were several the same.
DeleteTook the train as it moved along, was pleased with the outcome.
An uninterrupted view of the sea from that house, known as a Queensland.
Good to see a modern Queenslander house. The town looks to have good tourist facilities.
ReplyDeleteThere was a lot in the town and surrounds, they grow strawberries in that area as well as sugarcane.
DeleteNice duck, these photos make me feek like I am sitting watching the beach
ReplyDeleteThat's pleasing Jo-Anne you feel like that :)
DeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad David identified the duck--- it's a new one on me, and I'm delighted to make its acquaintance! Nice pictures of a nice place. We just watched "Australia" with Nichole and Hugh this evening. Lovely old fashioned movie.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful duck, I too am pleased David ID the duck too.
DeleteThat movie 'Australia' part of it was made at Bowen, Queensland.
Nice duck.
ReplyDeleteIt is Adam.
DeleteMe encanta ver esos paisajes, tal vez algún día pueda ir a verlos. Besitos y mucha salud.
ReplyDeleteThanks for saying Teresa.
Deletekeep well.
Such a beautiful scenery!
ReplyDeleteIt is nice.
DeleteAnother beautiful array of photos of a beautiful area.
ReplyDeleteThe duck is a lovely creature.
I smile as I type because seeing the coal train reminds me of a day in early 1965. I was newly engaged and my fiance, Randall (before he took off on his personal odyssey to see the world).
He and I were on our way to Rockhampton to visit his grandparents...for me to meet them for the first time. We were in the Austin Healey Sprite, top down, driving along as free as two birds on the wing.
A few miles south of Rocky we had to stop the car to allow a coal train to cross the highway ahead of us. And there we sat for some minutes to let it pass.
I burst out laughing when I looked at Randall as we were about to start off again. He was black. He laughed, too, when he looked at me. We could have become members of the Black & White Minstrels!
It was a memorable introduction to his grandparents!! :)
Take good care, Margaret...stay safe...stay well.
Lol, that is funny, sooty couple :)
DeleteThanks, you stay safe and well too.

DeleteBeautiful Duck. Is it a Pacific Black Duck? Absolutely sceneric views.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill. David said it was a Pacific Black Duck, I looked at other photos on the internet of the duck and it would be so that it's that duck.
