Elliott Heads is a coastal town just 17km south east of Bundaberg with just over 1,000 people. The river there was named after the first Speaker of the Queensland Parliament, Sir Charles Ellott.
The photo of the duck was taken not too far away and the train is a coal one we encountered on the way to Bundaberg.
The photos are of the area and that house has a great view of the Coral Sea.
In case you are interested your duck is a Pacific Black Duck. The head pattern is unmistakable and the dark green speculum shows well on this picture too. Well done.

I would love to see the sea again but that will to wait for another time, but when, I am not sure.

DeleteLovely photos of Eliot Heads. We went inland from Bundaberg and stayed at Biggenden. Next trip we will have to go to Eliot Heads and I do love the coast. Take care.

This is a beautiful place to spend a few weeks.

A modern version of the classic Queenslander EC. Usually the bottom of the older versions are not totally filled in and used for parking a car or bit of rubbish there. The top half much the same.

ReplyDeleteEsos trenes antiguos, no se ven muy a menudo y has aprovechado muy bien su paso, para tomar la foto.
En cuanto a la casa, tiene una buena situación, para tener buenas vistas desde sus ventanas y pasear por un buen entorno.
Por último es de resaltar la belleza de los paisajes, que tienen como protagonista el mar.

Good to see a modern Queenslander house. The town looks to have good tourist facilities.

I smile as I type because seeing the coal train reminds me of a day in early 1965. I was newly engaged and my fiance, Randall (before he took off on his personal odyssey to see the world).
He and I were on our way to Rockhampton to visit his grandparents...for me to meet them for the first time. We were in the Austin Healey Sprite, top down, driving along as free as two birds on the wing.
A few miles south of Rocky we had to stop the car to allow a coal train to cross the highway ahead of us. And there we sat for some minutes to let it pass.
I burst out laughing when I looked at Randall as we were about to start off again. He was black. He laughed, too, when he looked at me. We could have become members of the Black & White Minstrels!
It was a memorable introduction to his grandparents!! :)
