Have been several times before to this lovely town, taken many photos in the past this time I took houses.
The Warrumbungle Rangers are near by plus there are Telescopes scattered around the hills and a Astronomical Observatory which you can see [here] from a visit we did in 2013.
This visit we had Chinese at the Restaurant which is associated to one in Sydney.
This is part of the main street which is also the Highway, there are not that many shops here the nearest town or city is some distance away.
The Catholic Presbytery.
A Hall
This building is need of some tender loving care.
Wide streets.
The above and below photos were taken as we were driving past, so they may not be as clear as they should be. I'm not one for stopping in a street getting out of the moving vehicle and pointing the camera at a house, unless it's really necessary.
The map below, still some distance from Devonport in Tasmania. You can see Bendigo just above Melbourne on the left, this is where we were headed after Wellington NSW.
Pointing a camera directly at a house can sometimes invite a little chat with the police!
ReplyDeleteReally. I expect that if some one from the house of near by and saw one taking a photo they might call the police if concerned - here in Australia.
DeleteCharming photos and I am with you about pointing the camera in dangerous situations!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mildred.
DeleteLove the Warumbungles. And remember (from decades ago) that Coonabarabran had THE best bakery.
ReplyDeleteWe have never tried the Bakery there, my husband is a big fan of bakeries but we seem to get some fish and chips whilst there.
DeletePor mucho que se visite un lugar, no se cansa uno de sacar fotos. Siempre las imágenes experimentan un pequeño cambio según las condiciones de la luz.
ReplyDeleteBesos
That's so very true - always something to take and the light makes a big difference.
DeleteArchitecture is very interesting different from Polish one. My favourite photo is with a green car
ReplyDeleteMost of the houses a made of timber especially the older houses.
DeleteI liked that green car so hence a photo.
Hope you have a precious holidays. And, by yours, you have made a great stopping and take some really pictures.
ReplyDeleteWe had a lovely holiday thanks Bob.
DeleteI wonder what the building in need of TLC once was? Interesting marking over the door. The windows have been much reduced in height too.
ReplyDeleteHave no idea what that building was used for. (Tender loving care) - well that's what comes to mind :)
DeleteYes, window has been changed.
I like visiting country towns so peaceful that is if you don't live there, the beer fairy came from a country town Eugowra the stories and scandels he has told me would send your socks blue.
ReplyDeleteThe little houses are sweet and they have lots of land around them often very nice gardens.
Merle............
It's a rather tidy town, has schools etc, and always people in the main street and at the supermarket in another street, a Wollies.
DeleteBehind Parkes then he comes from :) small towns, the people always know what going on :)
Small towns are so nice and these photos are also so nice
ReplyDeleteThanks Jo-Anne, something different to see.
DeleteBeautiful pictures..Love those lulling small towns..
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteSmall towns do have a lot to offer, the locals are always interesting to talk to if they will talk to you.
I like the color on that blue house
ReplyDeleteIt's quite a nice colour Adam and different from the pale colours.
DeleteI remember driving through Coonabarrabran several times as we left Sydney and headed for Adelaide, but I don't remember anything at all of the town. We usually drove at night with the kids asleep in the back seat. It's nice to see it here, in daylight. It looks peaceful, quiet. A real old country town look to it.
ReplyDeleteIt does look a sleepy old town, and if the highway didn't go through it it would be even more quieter.
DeleteBe a bit concerned regarding the roos at night if travelling as you once did.
25 hours driving time, it really makes you realise what a huge country Australia is, love the open spaces and fresh air of the country towns!
ReplyDeleteWren x
Australia is about the size of America, so it is big :)
Deletebeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sussi
DeleteCoonabarabran is a great little country town.
ReplyDeleteWhen in West Wyalong Rotary we members of the WW club really enjoyed
going to meetings with the Coonabarabran club. Hospitality was unbeatable!
That means very long gatherings AFTER the meeting!!!!
We naturally stayed overnight for obvious reasons!!!
Colin
