To the beach!

Not too far from Ayr are two beaches that we visited.  Lynch's Beach and Alva Beach.
Many people that live there have a tractor to take their boats out to the sea and collect them.  First time we have seen this type of thing.  No photos of the tractors unfortunately.

Cute.

Near one of the beaches.

  1. Pigeons are much maligned, but they are pretty.

    1. Thanks you for the compliment. It just flew there and settled itself and I shot the photo. That one is rather pretty.

  3. The dove rest well and in its rest, poses before the camera, offering a good image.

I like especially the second photo, for its magnificent reflections.

    1. The bird behaved, I do declare it was used to humans.
The reflection is nice in that photo and it had been ages since I had seen water at that time.

    1. My father didn't care for the beach when he was alive, so therefore I never was taken when little - but I rather like them myself Jo-Anne.

  6. I can see why tractors are needed, as the water looks very shallow. Pigeon looks a little cross to me.

    1. Yes shallow and boggy in the sand I expect, then a sand bar, then the sea..
Well the bird posed, and who knows, maybe they do get annoyed when people take their photo :)

  11. One of my ex's uncles and his family lived at Midge Point - east of Bloomsbury, north of Mackay, and he, the uncle had a tractor for his boat.

When we visited the family in the early 80s on our way back from our caravan trip to Mossman and all areas in between, it was the first time I'd seen a tractor used for that purpose, too.

    1. They have probably been doing it for years, strange how I had never seen it till this last holiday.
Thanks for telling me about your uncle having a tractor.

    1. Be a good walk along that beach, do the legs good as the sand is soft thus hard walking.
Was rather pleased with that reflection, one can't always get one when travelling all the time, have to take photos when there.

  15. The beaches up there due to the Great Barrier Reef are so bland.
No surf but beware of crocodiles and get the hell off the beach if you see
    a sign, eh???
Plus of course all the deadly jellyfish, blue bottles etc etc.
I was always a bit on the VERY CAREFUL side with beaches up there,
the island resorts over the reef area are much better..... at least
there is a bit of surf.
Coral and I are not the best of mates! Coral ulcers are exceedingly painful.
Great photos as always - good to see that the everyday common pigeon was
    a viewers highlight!

    1. The Coral is rather bleached in many areas further up north so we were told by those that had been there this year.
Lots of signs around rivers regarding crocodiles, jelly fish all types signs everywhere for those at the beach along with shark warnings in some areas.
Yes, many people head to the water and wonder why they got stung or bitten..
      Thanks re photos.
There is nothing like a 'bird' :)
