The weather was warm as one would expect in winter however it rained many days even though it was supposed to be the dry season. The sun we didn't see a great deal of either but we had a good time.
On our way from Cardwell to Cairns we had hills, cane and banana plantations rather different from home. We passed the highest mountain in Queensland but unfortunately couldn't get a photo of it.
This caravan park was extremely busy, always someone going or coming. We booked for 4 weeks some distance down the road.
The photos below are of our posse for 4 weeks.
Our caravan
A small area of the park, we looked down this road.
One of the tropical plants growing in the caravan park.
Tropical plants around our site which made it rather private.
The maps above from Cardwell to Cairns, below the distance approx. from Devonport where we caught the Spirit of Tasmania to sail across the sea to Melbourne, then from there to Cairns.
so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, and was indeed lovely.
DeleteI would love to one day travel to Cains hell one day I would like to travel around the country and maybe one day we will
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you will Jo-Anne, there is so much to see in our large country.
DeleteI like those tropical flowers, that you have found on your great trip.
ReplyDeleteKisses
That's good you like them, I did too.
DeleteI always admire your tropical nature. What an amazing country Australia is
ReplyDeleteReally amazing Gosia, it so large and we go from the cold to the tropical winter heat in our winter.
DeleteSuch lovely plantings in this park. It looks like a nice place to stay for four weeks.
ReplyDeleteCynthia is was beautiful, and most caravan parks up that way are similar.
DeleteIt is a really pretty place. And winter would be the only season I could go. Glad that you enjoyed your trip, and grateful you shared some of it with us.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas.
I wouldn't go in summer unless I had to, be rather too humid.
DeleteMerry Christmas to you too.
A real tropical feeling to the place.... I too am glad you shared.
ReplyDeleteThanks. More to come on the tropics.
DeleteA great trip! Thanks for taking us along. Looking forward to more
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, and of course more to come as the time/days pass.
DeleteThe caravan park with palms and tropical plants looks strange to me, but good too.
ReplyDelete:) Well I expect it does look strange to someone like we that live in the southern area of Australia - but up in the tropics all caravan parks have the palms as their shade and other tropical plants. All gardens have tropical plants including those palms of various kind.
DeleteCongratulations on your travel report - you have done a wonderful photographic
ReplyDeletereport. Love the kilometres also shown showing the great distance.
You could see an almighty lot of Europe on that trip - ha ha.
Have a wonderful Christmas..... you know what I'll be doing.... pitching and
packing. 2017 hopefully will be a new "kettle of fish" at glorious Terrigal.
Colin
Thanks Colin, you will get on :)
DeleteFigured it would be good to add the distance so those abroad and in Australia that haven't travelled that distance, know how far we came on our holiday this Winter.
Wow, that sure it a long trip when you look at the map. I love the rows of palm trees lining the park.
ReplyDeleteIt was a long way and is still a long way, then to turn around and drive back down again a different way.
DeleteLots of palm trees in Cairns.
That's a long way to go to get warm. It looks like you weren't the only ones with that idea, judging by the caravan park. I hope it didn't rain all the time.
ReplyDeleteIt is a long way to get warm, but we have to go that far to do so. Rockhampton is not quite warm enough in the dead of winter.
DeleteRained most days in the dry.
That's a long way from home. I reckon a four week stay makes it worth it. I'd like to visit Cairns one day. I love the tropical plants.
ReplyDeleteVery long way but still in our country :)
DeleteThe caravan and yourselves have really covered a huge number of miles since you bought it. The park looks to have been a lovely place to settle for the month.
ReplyDeleteWe all have Rosemary with both winters, 2015, 2016 and then in our other caravan for several years also.
DeleteLooks tropical and lovely!
ReplyDeleteIt is lovely but lots of hills behind Cairns.
DeleteI have always wanted to see Cairns because of the Great Barrier Reef :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a most wonderful Christmas :)
Up towards Cairns the Great Barrier Reef isn't that good, but somewhat below it's alright apparently.
DeleteEnjoy your visit there :)
ReplyDeleteWe were there in our winter :)
DeleteIt's nice to watch your great photos because the weather is cold here in Poland!
ReplyDeleteGreetings
Some places here in Australia are very hot at the moment - as it's summer.
DeleteMy photos are of winter holiday.
Beautiful trip.
ReplyDeleteIt was thanks Bob.
